COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rare Vos is Flemish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

Pours a light copper/amber color with a huge foamy head. Looks fantastic. The head retains a long while. On the nose...where to start. Dough, piles of banana, leather, biscuits and bread, malty and barely a wiff of hops. The palate is round and full but a bit too carbonated for my liking. The finish is perhaps a bit tight and slightly bitter. Nice, but if this had a nicer finish I would be in love.

Pours an amber from a bottle, thick off-white head. Big yeasty aroma and flavor, well-balanced acidity. Good beer.

Bottle. Cloudy amber with a ton of white head. Lots of dark fruits, spice, flower and toasted hop come at you aggressively. Some metallic and earthy malt in there as well. A sound Belgian.

The initial smell is woodsy with a sweet cherry scent. It is cloudy with a half inch of head. For taste, its a bit hoppy for an amber but more flavorful than youd think. Theres not much aftertaste.

Medium body, decent head, some spiciness but also sweet, noticeable carbonation (maybe too much). It was good, but not as good as Ommegang Hennepin Saison or Game of Thrones Valar Dohaeris.

Bottle pours amber, a bit cloudy, with a nice white head. Pretty. Aroma is strongly spiced. Black pepper, something coriander like. Flavor is way out of balance for me. Overly spiced. The malt flavors, a little caramel, bread, and a huge struggle to find. Lots of yeast phenolics. Good medium body. Wish it was just more delicately handled, spice wise.

Bottle pour into shaker pint glass. Appearance is hazy light brown with decent sparkle, 2-finger width foamy beige head with good retention and fair lacing. Aroma is light banana, clove. Taste is light banana, clove and peppery spiciness. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, lively carbonation and mildly sweet and yeasty finish. Overall, a nice beer without huge, bold flavors or complexity, and slightly over-carbonated, but very good nonetheless.

Backlog, On tap, pours a hazy orange with large soapy head. Stuck around for a good bit. Nose of plum, grape, belgian yeast, florals, and spice. Flavor was rich malt, dark fruits, wood, and old stuff. Medium body with average carbonation. A nice Belgian on a cold night.

Bottle from a Lazy dog. slightly hazy medium golden color with a huge bubbly frothy off white head that takes forever to recede. Clove and spice lay heavy on the nose with some faint bready maltiness. The flavor is sweet bready malt light earthy big clove and peppery spice. Well made beer, but its a bit heavy on the clove and spice for my tastes.

Had this one at the Doubleday Caf in Cooperstown NY while there to see the Hall of Fame. A great beer.
