Pours with moderate viscosity. Very dark with a thin tan head. The nose is dominated by the signature of Belgian yeast but there are notes of chocolate and roastiness as well. On the palate there is significant milk chocolate sweetness balanced by roasted astringency and the zest of the Belgian yeast. Pretty tasty.

Poured from a 750ml bottle. Chocolaty, ester filled aroma. This is a tasty, malty chocolate beer, the Belgian yeast character is subtle, yet it is prominent enough to be noticeable. Nice beer.

Medium amber colored, with aromas of roasted malts and slightly fruity. Chocolate/coffee flavor but there is a lingering cherry after taste. A very good porter.

Bottle (750ml): dark with thin tan head. Some chocolate aroma. Medium plus carbonation. Light bodied. Taste was some Belgium yeast with some fruitiness and slight chocolate. A little too thin though.

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2016 Pours deep brown. Aromas is basically just cocoa and cherry, but not in a simple or overloaded way; still very complex and perfectly balanced. Taste is awesome: an incredible combo of dark chocolate, cocoa, and cherry that manages to be both sweet but tart and walks that line very well. Very, very good; wish it wasn’t retired. Edit: I asked Ommegang about it in March and was informed there are no plans to bring it back. :( ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(from notes). Pours near black with a lasting tan head. S: Sweet; Dark chocolate stands out; hint of smoke. T: seductive mix of chocolate, dark fruits and toasted grains. Excellent sweetness level for flavor profile. M: full body; creamy smooth; very light bite at finish; well-chosen medium-low carbonation. O: rich and flavorful, as well as very drinkable. Highly recommended.

Lovely dark black pour with a foamy khaki head. Beautiful nose of sweet milk chocolate and light roasted black malts with a dose of sweet cherries. Smooth and rich and deep flavor that feautures dark roastiness and semisweet chocolate flavors, sweet cherries underneath, no bitterness and a wee bit of smokey black malt. Sweet and complex and just enough cherries to be playful, neither tart or cloying.
