4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Excellent beer. This beer really delivers on several levels. Although it has a dry finish the malt complexity really shines: Cocoa, caramel balance well on the palate. Hops are subdued & really didn’t get a lot of cherry from the 2% Kriek added to the beer. Well done.
Bottle. Plum color with an off white head. Plum spice aroma and flavor. Medium heavy body.

Pours opaque, dark brown with a copper tint. Light brown head. Aroma is dark fruit, raisins, cola, molasses. Taste of brandy, cherry, sweet malt. Alcohol not blatant. Medium heavy carbonated mouthfeel. NJBarstool (42) - Rockaway, New Jersey, USA - DEC 29, 2017
Fragrance of champagne, cherries, and toffee. A very sweet smell. High carbonation on this one, quite a side pourer. This subsides to a creamy Irish Stout like creaminess. Color is a light brownish red, with many bubbles on the bottom half. 9.7% is nearly invisible with all the sweetness in the malt. Belgian yeast, heavy sweet malt. A fine beer for a single serving prior to dinner or after. It's actually better colder than when it warms up IMO. Great for a guest who's skipping on dessert aoiioushi (10) - North Carolina, USA - DEC 22, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 22, 2017 Nice smooth, a little boozy. Fruity plum cherry aroma. Medium head , no lacing. High quality quad. BrewWhatIWant (323) - Ontario, CANADA - NOV 27, 2017
Pours brilliant ruby with a small tan head. Aroma is cherries and chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet and sour. There are notes of cherries, roasted malt, grapes, chocolate and wine. Full bodied with moderate carbonation. This was a bit of a letdown after the description. I suppose it does blend the two styles pretty well, but some of the quadruple character is lost because of the acidity and the strong alcohol in the finish.

Bottle. Ruby color with tan head. Aroma is raisins, a touch cherries, chocolate, malty, brown sugar. Taste is the same. Silky mouthfeel with high but soft carbonation. Solid Quadrupel with a touch wildness! wxman (1865) - O’Fallon, Illinois, USA - OCT 30, 2017
Pours a cloudy orange/amber with a full off white/orange head. Aroma is dark fruit and brandy. Taste is sweet caramel malt, molasses, dark candied fruit, buttered biscuits, and some chocolate notes along with a bit of Merlot. Alcohol warmth evident after the swallow. Poured from caged and corked 750ml(2005-room temp) a deep amber with a huge head of foam that dissipates slowly leaving a fine layer with nice lacing.
The smell is a wonderfully sweet malt and cherry that explodes out of the bottle upon opening and continues from my New Belgium goblet.
The taste is a mix of caramel sweetness and cherry tartness, an unusual combination for my taste buds but the more I sip, the more I realize that this brew is quite enjoyable and the near 10%abv? I don't find it in the taste at all and after swallowing, there's just a slight warming. Good stuff!
Bottom line: This is a fine brew that I *know* I'll be trying again. I recommend it.
Edit, Nov 2 1010: My first bottle since my review, a 12ozer. As deliciously cherry tarty and with the same caramel sweetness as the 750ML bottles. It lost nothing going down from the large format bottle at all. A real treat to drink! GarageBrewer80 (714) - SWEDEN - OCT 13, 2017
