COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Three Philosophers is a unique blend of a Belgian-style dark ale and Liefmans Kriek, an authentic cherry ale from Belgium. Cherry chestnut in color, its opaque but not cloudy with full carbonation topped by a smooth, tan head. Flavors and aromas of roasted malt, molasses and brown sugar, dark fruits, brandied raisins and chocolate, Three Philosophers has notable sweetness with low hop bitterness. The mid-palate shows a soft malt center which gives way to a dry, warm, wine-like finish.

Bomber. Murky brown with an orange hue. Mahogany color once it settles. Big off white head. Aromas of red licorice, prunes, raisins, cherries, wood, yeast. Similar flavor profile with plums, toffee, cola, leather, berries, and significant spiciness. Malts balanced with tartness. Medium body, good carbonation.

Bottle, LCBO. 2016. BB 03.10.2021. Darkish murky coppery amberish colour with modest creamy head. Malty sweet and ripe autumn fruits aroma, some dark dried fruits, caramel; flavour likewise, strong toffee notes. Tastes rather sweet with a slightly spicy bitterness. The cherry is rather subdued, I almost guess I wouldnt have noticed any if I didnt know it was part Liefmans Kriek... Weirrrrd. Alcohol is rather well covered but the mouthfeel is rather thin, carbonation fine and nearing flat. Not among the best Quads Ive had.

Bottle from the LCBO. Murky dark coppery brown under a fluffy khaki coloured head that lingers. Nose is cherry forward, with plum, brown sugar, yeast and light spice. Front is quite sweet but roast smooths it in the middle and leads to a lightly tart fruity finish. Mouth is medium+ and chewy with soft carbonation and a lingering vinous finish. Alcohol is quite warming. Nice sippe. 8/4-/8+/4/16

Beautiful mahogany color. Cherry aroma. Bold sweetness of currants and berries. One of my favorites.

I hadnt had this one in a few years so I was curious to see how it holds up. The aroma is very nice with a fruity, plumy zing to it. It pours a pleasant dark red-brown with a thin head. It has a sweet, fruity (once again plums come to mind) taste that isnt cloying or overpowering and is well balanced with the Belgian yeast. It feels very nice going down with a lovely sensation on the tongue and a nice long finish. This is quite a keeper and one definitely worth checking out for any occasion. I imagine it would be a good wine replacement for a fancy meal!

Good bodied beer, not great though. A nice Belgian, probably travelled a bit much by the time it got to me. The alcohol warmth shines through quite strongly. Bottle from washington brough back by beamteam.

750 mL bottle. Pours a deep ruby red color with a thick tan head that eventually settles a film. Aroma is mostly cherries and dried fruit. Medium-full body, flavor matches the aroma with dried fruit and cherries and a little bit of warming alcohol. Finish is dry and sweet. Excellent!

750ml. Smells like a roasted glass of moscato. Kicks off just a bit too hard, but eases down into that lovely taste we all want. Its damn good, but just missing that trappistes mark by a hair.
