Ommegangs brewers spent several years refining their ideas of what a "perfect" tripel would be. In the original style, a Belgian tripel is a golden ale, from 8.5% to 10% ABV, with fruity flavors and aromas coming from the yeast. Tripels are simply brewed, but with great attention to detail. Ommegang Tripel Perfection goes beyond the exquisite attention to detail and adds spices to subtly enhance aromas and flavors. The result is a fine ale honoring Belgian brewing tradition, while also expanding on it in the new Ommegang tradition.

Clove/Banana tones in the first sips that last throughout. A little too gassy that allows the alcohol to seep onto the tongue. Caramel finishes off towards the end. Doesnt have too much of a sweet cloying presence but is heavy at first. A little bitter but that doesnt last too long. Definitely a Tripel.

Pours a bright golden amber with a big white head. Light carbonation with some lacing. Strong aroma of coriander and celery. Fairly smooth with a taste very similar to a Witbier. Lots of coriander flavor and a slightly dry finish. Light sweet bready aftertaste. Not my favorite style. Ok but not great.

Hazy gold color with a large head. Aroma of floral hops and spice. Light coriander. Strong honey, biscuit, and yeast flavor. More coriander. Full bodied. Seems sweetish.

750mL bottle. The aroma has some spicy white pepper character along with some metallic hints and some esters with hints of clove. Hazy golden-orange body with a medium, strong, fizzy white head. Starts with a bit of a bitter, earthy hop character. Some metallic character comes through in the middle before a little sweet lemon takes over. Finishes with a more bitter flavoring. The mouthfeel on this is just exquisite. Really good, if not on the hoppy side...

750 mL bottle. Pours a cloudy orange color with a quick white head. Lots of visible carbonation. Aroma has some sweet fruit, spice and yeast along with a little sourness. Medium body, plenty of carbonation on the tongue. Flavor is a nice combination of malt and yeast producing fruit, spice and a touch of sourness. Finish is sweet and a little sour on the sides. Excellent!

Poured from bottle into a tulip: Pours clear golden with a one finger white head. Aroma of banana, clove, coriander, little alcohol. Flavor more of the same, lots of pepper, little boozy, but surprisingly dry. Medium body, tasty tripel.

750 ml bottle, shared. Slightly hazed golden pour. Thin sticky white head, good retention, spotty lacing. Sweet honey, cereal grain, some heavier malt. Some yeast in the aroma too, cloves, dough. some lighter herbal hops comes through in the finish. Nice dry finish despite some of the earlier sweetness. Very nice tripel in the end.

May 24, 2016; bomber purchased at the brewery. Heady pour & outstanding aroma. Remarkably peppery, spicy & bitter. Love the Ommegang brews (and tripels) as a rule, but the astringency of this one may take some getting used to. Perhaps because Id just finished a Unibroue La Fin du Monde before cracking this bottle. Would definitely give this another go (and a re-rate).

Pours a bright golden yellow color. Active carbonation throughout the session. Aromas of hops, fruit, and a little yeast. Has a light fruity citrus taste, with some yeasty notes, and a good hop flavor.
