Witte is our version of the classic Belgian wit or "white" ale. Witte, which is actually Flemish for white, is brewed with malted and unmalted wheat, orange peel, and coriander - offering a refreshing style that showcases the Belgian talent for brewing full-flavored ales that are also light and balanced. It is pale straw in color, slightly hazy from the yeast, and topped with a huge white, fluffy head.

So I was at Bareburger and saw "Ommegang" on the draft menu. I asked the waitress which Ommegang it was but she wasnt able to give me a good answer. Decided to order it anyway and try to figure out the mystery. After doing some research, Im 99 percent sure this is what I had. Pours a very hazy straw color yellow. Aroma is mild wheat with some mild citrus. Beer was very carbonated. Tastes of again mild wheat and mild citrus. Weak bitter finish that doesnt last long. Beer is very smooth and easy to drink, but the flavors are weak and subdued. Maybe that has more to do with the style than the beer, but it just didnt click with me. Meh.

Tasting at brewery. Pours a cloudy pale gold with a medium frothy white head. Aroma is clove, coriander, wheat, and vague orange. Taste is wheat, clove, coriander, banana, and lemon. Dry finish. Light body. Lively carbonation. Crisp mouthfeel. Feels very close to a hefeweizen.

Light lemony, citrus and sour scents. Pours a cloudy gold with a bright white with fine pinpoint bubbles. Flavor is very fresh and light lemon. Big carbonation and good lacing. A solid Witbier.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is hazy pale yellow with greenish tinge, 1 1/2-finger width frothy white head with fair retention, decent sparkle, decent lcaing. Aroma is surprising smokiness, wheat. Taste is tart, citrusy wheat, different from aroma. Palate is medium bodied with foamy texture, lively carbonation and lightly tart finish. Overall, representative of the style without a lot of complexity.

This beer has instructions printed on the label of the bottle explaining how to pour it for intended experience. If you dump it into your glass you get a different beverage than if you slowly & carefully transfer it w/o disturbing the yeast on the bottom. Poured correctly, its a crystal clear very pale wheat beer with small head - Dumping produces cloudy beer w/ exploding foam that threatens to escape said glass. Fine witbier!

Flavor was heavy on lemon and wheat flavors. Drinkable but not what i was looking for in a summer beer. Wanted a more refreshing experience.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow with big fizzy head. Aromas of citrus, grass, and some coriander. Flavors of light coriander and some astringent lemon. Best witbier Ive had in awhile.

Bottled. Hazy yellow body, huge white head, very lively. The aroma is sweet, fruity, and the taste is also sweet with some vanilla.
