Poured from an oversize bottle into a crystal glass. Colour is cloudy dark brown/back. There is generous off-white head. Aroma is dark malt, raisin, vanilla, and spice. Flavour is sweet bread, molasses, dried fruit, and spice. Well balanced hops give it a wonderful crisp finish. superspak (5508) - Michigan, USA - JAN 27, 2014
750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 7/20/2012. Pours very hazy nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, prune, plum, pear, fig, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, light chocolate, clove, pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt, candi sugar, and fruity/spicy yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, prune, plum, fig, pear, molasses, caramel, toast, dark bread, toffee, light chocolate, clove, pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of raisin, plum, pear, fig, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, light chocolate, clove, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance, robustness, and complexity of dark malt, candi sugar, and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a great malt/spicy ester balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy, slick, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong dark ale. All around great balance and complexity of dark malt, candi sugar, and fruity/spicy yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering. jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 13, 2014
750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours dark brown with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of chocolate and slightly roasted malts, a lot of caramel sweetness, light spicy yeast, some pale malts, hints of bitterness, and light dark fruits. Flavor the same with a great blend of the dark malts, spicy yeast, and only hints of fruits. Smooth texture. A pretty good beer. annunz123 (957) - Taunton, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 12, 2014
Dark fruit, grape, and molasses in the aroma. Flavor start rich and bready, with some fruit and raisins. Some spice and drying alcohol in the finish. This is a really nice sipper for a cold night. Sask89 (514) - Regina, Saskatchewan, CANADA - JAN 3, 2014
Pours a really dark brown colour with a big frothy tan head. Aroma of dates, prunes, caramel, candy, and even apples. Taste is sweet with a slight bitter kick in the finish, nothing outstanding about it though. Medium bodied, thinner on the palate, somewhat under carbonated in my opinion. Overall a nice beer, but I was expecting more.

Bomber, cellared for approximately 1 year. Banana and dark fruit aroma with some chocolate and caramel malt. Very malty to start with banana and dark fruit flavors. Finishes extremely smooth with the caramel malt coming through and just the slightest hint of booze. Nice.

Deep brown pour, trending black. Nose is soft chocolate roast malt, dark fruit, yeast esters/spice, and a faint trail of soy. Flavor is smooth bitter chocolate roast malt with plum/raisin, sweet toasted biscuit, and yeast spice. Ample carbonation. Lightly dry, yet moderately sweet. Big with good alcohol cover. Nice. generallee08 (772) - New York, USA - OCT 6, 2013
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2013 Presentation: It was served on tap at Brewery Ommegang during there Waffles and Puppets celebration.
Appearance: It has a dark murky brown body with deep red highlights. This is topped with a one inch thick, light tan head. The head is creamy and hangs on well, slowly fading as i sip. A light swirl of the glass reinforces the head so that every sip starts with a little bit of that rich frothy goodness.
Smell: The aroma brings a pleasant and complex blend of yeast and malt notes to the nose.
Taste/Feel: There is a tasty blend of dark ripe fruit, toffee, yeast, and bready malt with mellow/warm alcohol. Hop flavor is very subdued and adds only a very slight spice note. This all comes by way of a soft medium to full body with soft yet very active carbonation.
Notes: For me Brewery Ommegang has hit another home run with this Dark Belgian Ale!!! jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 14, 2013
