Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Leon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

Nicke80 (750) - Södertälje, SWEDEN - MAR 31, 2017
65 cl bottle from systembolaget. Pours hazy golden with big head. Fruity aroma with sweet citrus and hoppy wheaty taste.

Speko (414) - DENMARK - MAR 27, 2017
Bottle 0,33. Pours clear yellow with large slowly diminishing white head, nice lacing. Aroma of citrus, malts, some yeast, tropical fruits. Taste follows the nose with nice bitterness from the pale ale accompanied by the yeast. Interresting, but becomes a bit dull and tame. Medium body and average carbonation.

Rascainfierno (52) - MADRID, SPAIN - MAR 14, 2017
Color naranja ambarino profundo con bonita espuma. Aroma de cerveza belga pero con toques atrevidos de lúpulo. Sabor fuerte a miel. Estupenda.

Tasted at home on 33 cl bottle. Nice balance and smell. Very fruity and bitter aftertaste. Nice head

Bottle from systembolaget. An interesting beer that does what it says on the tin giving a pale ale a good kick up the backside with belgianness (power, booze). I remember this being fantastic a while ago but now found it quite dissapointing and bland.

TheKernOwl (214) - West Sussex, ENGLAND - JAN 28, 2017
A Belgian blonde with a nose like nectarine + speculoos biscuit + sprinkling of hay-y Saison. A light and dry ride with a little spice at end. Not bad, just a ?mid-leon?. Ah thank yoo.

DonGregorio (413) - POLAND - JAN 26, 2017
Bottle. Unclear orange colour, large white head. Aroma of peach, spices, pine. Taste is light to medium sweet, light+ bitter, yeast, peach, citrus, spices. Medium body and carbonation. Champagne-like. Good.

ClarkVV (6708) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 24, 2017
Draught at the brewery, 11/30/16.
Pale golden body shows high clarity and a medium-sized, off white head with medium-high retention.
White pepper lies behind leafy, green, vegetal hops and moderate citrus. Malts remain mostly out-of-the-way, with pleasant, but not overdone, fruity Belgian esters and more light pepper phenols on the finish.
Dry in the mouth, with citrusy hops, light earthy and vegetal notes and easygoing esters. Strong carbonation, engaging and mostly tight, with a bready texture low on malt sugar. Crisp, yeast and hop-derived finish with no alcohol or flaw.

Golden colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have a yeasty tang. Also a hint of citrus.

Kita (2151) - Koper, SLOVENIA - JAN 16, 2017
Bottle, 0.33l. Hazy amber color with medium frothy off-white head and sparkling appearance. Aroma is yeasty, grainy, peachy and funky. Taste starts light sweet malty with orange zest, following is fruity and herbal, mouthfeel is crisp and dry, while finish is medium bitter. Light to medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Nicely hoppy Belgian ale...
