COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Leon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

Clear straw color with a thin, diminishing, fizzy white head. Aroma is yeast, spices, horse blanket and moist leaves. Flavours of cereal, yeast, hay and floral hops. Balanced carbonation, light body, dry finish.

A nice pale ale with belgian character. Pours an deep orange body with a one finger white head. Tastes of peach, hops, honey, bitterness, yeast. Aromas of hops and yeast. It is quite complex and very drinkable. The body is medium and carbonation is soft.

Backlog. Synchronizing with notes and Untappd.
Spicy, fruity and a bit like a white wine - this one tastes just strange.

To simple for belgian style. Good aroma, but taste vary similar to lager. And there is no balance.

Pours a cloudy yellow to amber with lively white head. Aroma is straw, caramel, orange, touch of coriander, grape and mango. Taste is better than the aroma and is more complex, with some sweetness, some sourness and a medium tart, sour and soapy finish. Very dry. A little disappointed with this one, but I’m not a fan of sourness in beers.

0.75 l bottle with a plastic champagne cork from Systembolaget in Stockholm. Appearance is cloudy dark yellow with a big head. Taste has sweet yeast in a Belgian way combined with bitter hops. A modern take on the Belgian blond bier, where you can taste some hops too. Label design has changed from the one pictured here.

Surprisingly full, but sharpish mouthfeel. A little iodic aftertaste but all in all very nice.

Gotta love the bottle. Admittedly this is not a graphic design reviews website, but it all adds to the experience. Pours with a lively carbonation forming large bubbles, and already a funky aroma I hadn’t expected is making my mouth water. Body is an almost opaque rusty brown. Some swirling resurrects the head with smaller bubbles. Aroma is yeasty, like the CO2 blast you get lifting the lid off a live fermenter. The aroma does say "Belgian", but not in the hugely overt way of - for example - some tripels. In the mouth it is surprisingly refreshing for 6.5%, as the description claims. Carbonation is tingly on the tongue but not as violent as the bubbles suggested. The finish is a lingering crisp, clean bitterness reminiscent of a golden ale. I could almost see this as a Delirium Tremens lite, and it fulfills the brewer’s mission: a "companion throughout the evening ... rich in taste yet refreshing".
