Mazarin is my take on a “thinker’s beer”. Rather than being big and undecipherably complex I wanted to create something that would calm a hop yearning nerve without fuddling the brain too much. In other words, a lavishly hopped ale of judicious ABV — an Extra Special Pale Ale if you will.
In fact, so extra special that it snatched a gold medal at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2013.

Bottle from Whole Foods PM. Pours great turbid orange, looking like extra pulpy orange juice, and 1-finger white head that laces well. Nose is huge and very intense, a medley of mango, tangerine, melon, malt. Tastes citric, dry, floral, with tangerine, pineapple, mango, honeydew. Finishes dry, hoppy, citric, and delicious. This beer is fucking incredible, and you can quote me on that. Like a cross between Flower Power and Hill Farm Society and Solitude #4.

This is one of the best pales I’ve had in a long time! What a cracker beautiful pale colour with a huge floral nose, super smooth with great pine flavours and nice dry finish.

classy pale ale with great taste, nice color and supreme finish. With the hops comes a nice but gentile bitterness and i feel hints of citrus, honey, apricots and some subtle toffee (but without being sweet) Great pale ale, exactly what i wanted....

Topper !!

Bold aroma is malty and fruity with hay, yeasty and floral hints. Pours a clear, bubbly amber with a thick and fluffy ivory head. Flavor is quite hoppy, almost more an IPA than a "regular" PA, with hay and woody tones, a fair amount of bitterness, and floral and fruity hints. Texture is quite fizzy, though not remarkably thick; goes down nicely. A gold medal winner? Not surprised!

Gerbeer (3756) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 16, 2014
330 ml bottle. Pours a copper colour with full head. Aromas of tropical fruit, toffee, and toasted malts. Fruity flavors; citrus, pine, melons and light pineapple with nice malt backdrop and light bitter finish. Excellent especially for the ABV.

Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 26, 2013
Pours golden with a light orange hue and beautiful white head. Aroma and flavor are perfect for the style bringing juicy but tame citrus hops that bring a refreshing note to the palate. The body is creamy and delicious for the style with a juicy and well blended balance of hops and malts, a little bigger on the hop side in a good way obviously.

25 cl. draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Thick hazy orange with a creamy white head. Nose is sweetish grapefruit jam coupled with some USA grapefruit & pine resin hoppy bitterness goodness, cloudberries, flowers, oranges,… Taste is sweet malts & fruits, jam, creamy coupled with increasingly bitter grapefruit & pine resin hoppy bitterness, fruits, white grapes, cloudberries, sweetish pine resin, orange peel, bitterness is quite floral & bit odd coupled with the sweetnes,… Thick malts,… Not the best but very good & yummy never the less. Digging this new brewery / De Proef deal… something like that so far.

Aroma is tropical fruit, kiwi/lime, hop resin and very mild sugar sweetness. The flavor is citrus, tropical fruit, hop resin, mild pixie stick/sugar sweetness and a tangy/dryish finish.
