The beer pours a limpid deep amber color with a light tan and semi-creamy head that is modest in size and the resultant lace a thin sheet to cover the glass. Nose is sweet malt, crisp and fresh with a light hint of hop floral also noticed with the start sweet and a nice bit of malt, the top moderate in its feel. Finish is delightfully carbonated the hops persistent in their spiciness, very dry aftertaste and a fine drinking beer.
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2003 a shining 3rd place metal hung from its shoulders as he wore a large white hat...there were salty nuts and alcohol, firm malty creaminess, thickness, brandy, sugardaddy candies..the mouthfeel was big and thick..with alcoholic and bitter undertones..

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2003 CASK: Filled a growler at the pub. Pours a deep dark cloudy amber with no head. Nose is sweet malt. Smooth, rich carmel flavor up front with a hint of hop bitterness in the finish. Nice sweet malt aftertaste. Reminds me of a mild barleywine.
