355ml can. Dark brown black pour. Aroma is straight coffee, just a bag of coffee ground. Flavor is dry and chalky, bitter cocoa roast, very pleasant.

Draft pour on tap at Stout Fest 2013 (Chicago, IL). Pours a richer deep brownish black hue, good haziness, frothy loose tannish head dies to a mellow ring, laces ok. Darker decent haziness, some good darkness. Aromas are good roastiness, some decent coffee elements. Some coffee, gentle espresso, mellow vanilla. Gentle brown malt, mellow roast, sweetness of coffee with cream, toffee, and toast. Initial is medium bodied, some coffee presence pushes up front. Roasty, coffee, some espresso. Toasty, biscuity middle with some creamy coffee, vanilla, and toffee. A touch of girth in the middle, faint hazelnut. Nice coffee presence stays firm throughout, cocoa and coffee, mellow sweetness, easily drinkable body. A bit cool, the finish shows roasty coffee, brown malts, and toast. Some cocoa, earth, and mellow carmelization. Pretty nice, a touch thin but the coffee flavor is well integrated.

Draft at Stout Fest. This was easily the biggest coffee beer at the fest. Pours black with a brown head. Nose is huge coffee and cocoa. Big roasty notes. Not a whole lot else going on. Enjoyed on tap at Goose Island Stout Fest 2012 in Chicago, IL. I didn’t catch the description, but would assume this was aged in coffee beans or something like that. Appearance is pitch black with a rich off white head. Aroma mostly coffee, bit of chocolate, but mostly coffee. Taste dominated by coffee, bit of smoke, chocolate notes, not too much lactose, but maybe not as ’coffee like’ as other brews I had that day. Pretty decent stuff.
