(6.0%). Deep amber colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some wood and dark fruits. Flavour is much the same along with some cocoa and vanilla.
Cask. Low fluffy loight brown lasting head. Very dark red brown body. Almost black. Lovely coffee aroma. Smooth creamy coffee cocoa liquorice flavor with little, if any, hops bitterness. Low carbonation and a long coffee cream aftertaste. Ethereal (2421) - Los Angeles, California, USA - AUG 9, 2008
Cask at GBBF 08. Dark brown and oily. Vegetable and coffee aroma but soft malt milk chocolate and marshmallow flavours on the tongue. Strength was given as 6.0% in the BSF programme. mcox90 (2088) - Wilton, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 4, 2008
From a growler purchased at Julio’s Liquors.
Pours a deep, rich brown with ruby edges. Small tan head. Nice smooth palate, albeit a bit on the thin dry side. Chocolate, malty flavor with some coffee. Nice enjoyable, drinkable porter made more enjoyable by the fact that it was ridiculously cheap. $6.99 a growler at Julio’s. Can’t beat that with a stick. My Bottom Line:
beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 9, 2007
Candied fruitiness and calculated earthy roastiness linger well into the finish in this clean and drinkable Porter.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam stands atop the burgundy-laced black.
-The maltiness is well extracted, as in most Opa-Opa beers.
-Some coffee flavors add complexity to the roasted maltiness.
-The fruitiness recalls cherries at times.
-This is not a memorable Porter by any means, but it is quite efficient nonetheless.
On tap at the brewpub.
Pours a black color with brown highlights and a thin beige head. Average aroma and flavor of coacoa and roasted malt. The body is light while the carbonation is soft. Even for a porter, it lacks intensity. JAF737300 (1291) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 29, 2007
This beer ours dark bworn with a decent head. It has good notes of cocoa and coffee. I would think it is a stout. IUt finishes quite smooth! Sammy (12201) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 12, 2007
A really winner, at the brewpub. Black, good lace. Nice chocolate. Smooth and stoutish. good balance, and a bit more bitter than sweet. Miguel (1181) - Saint-Ours, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 21, 2007
