promontor (127) - HUNGARY - DEC 8, 2016
0.5l bought in a Tesco in Czech Republic. Label says extra hoppy. Pale yellow colour, big white head. Foam is persistent. Moderate sourish, bread-like aroma, bit of grassy. Foam taste is very bitter, kind of medicine-like unpleasant bitterness. Taste is better, there is a bittersweet balance, but sweetness is not malty enough and bitterness (especially the aftertaste) is again medicine-like. Body is otherwise OK for this alcohol content. Palate is fine, moderate, natural, silky carbonation, creamy mouth feel. Tolerable, but there are many much better Czech beers than this one.

Demens (325) - Budapest, HUNGARY - OCT 20, 2016
0,5l bottle. Cloudy golden colour with medium lasting white head. Aroma: Fresh grass, floral, notes of citrusy fruits, strong honey and basement aromas. Quite wow for a pilsner. Taste: Short sweet (fruity) start with a very pleasen quite strong full bitter mouthfeel. Well balanced and very rich for a pilsner, again. Light/medium body with fizzy carbonation. Long bitter/sweet and dry finish. Best pilsner?

Piwo o złotej barwie. Piana gęsta, dość szybko opada, ładnie oblepia szkło. W aromacie czuć chmiel, słód i lekki miód. W smaku dość długo zalegająca łodygowa goryczka, słód i metaliczność. Trochę stęchły posmak.

bottle: I wasn´t expecting much from this "desitku" (10 degree beer using the Balling method of measuring specific gravity)--and my expectations (low) were met (meant as damning praise... ;-) OK, it is a bit hoppier than the average Czech desitku but not drastically so. I normally don´t drink beer of this type at all now, but decided on a whim to give it a shot. Better than the multinational desitkus that are prevalent in most typical pubs here, but this is not saying much in a larger universe of significantly better beers. Not much aroma, very light color, typical carbonation, no lacing to speak of, nothing lingering in the mouth after each sip.... ´nuff said
