On tap @ Bir&Fud (Rome). Bruna intensa con riflessi vermigli, schiuma beige leggera e poco persisrente. Al naso note di caramello, datteri, amaretto, nota alcolica importante, affumicato leggerissimo, ossidazione. In bocca è dolce con buona complessità data dall’infusione di tabacco, alcol presente, ossidazione. Corpo pieno, carbonazione soft. Almost opaque dark brown - amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and fairly dry, reasonable carbonation. Dry smooth malts, thin cream. A floral ashy vibe in the mid, which I guess must be the cigars! Mild wood, Dry tangy red wine. Light dry finish. I prefer the base beer, not sure the cigars have done this any favours.
Drank 26-5-17 after my birthday dinner. Interesting beer, taste a bit like candy. Too bad that the body is a bit thin, not really an aftertaste (fading), otherwise rich and complex beer. alteregoo (1829) - Kalisz, POLAND - FEB 2, 2017
Piany praktycznie brak. Barwa miedziana, opalizująca. W aromacie delikatne nuty czerwonego wina, suszonej żurawiny, fig, karmelu, miodu spadziowego, tytoniu... Smak podobny, półsłodkie, poza tym co w zapachu jest trochę kandyzowanych owoców, jest lekka cierpkość migdałowa, jest wyraźna goryczka z cygarowym czy tytoniowym posmakiem na finiszu. Bardzo niskie wysycenie, oleiste, pełne w odbiorze, ładnie ukryty alkohol.

Generalnie bardzo podobne piwo do wersji bez cygar, aczkolwiek nutka tytoniu, nieco większa słodycz i goryczka delikatnie wzbogaciły to piwo...
330ml bottle (thanks martjoobolut). Murky brown color. Tiny size, bubbly white head, stays as a ring. Port wine, sweet, fruity, berries, candy in aroma. Tobacco, roast, dusty, woody, tannins, red wine in taste. Characterful. Woody and red wine in aftertaste. I quite like it.

At La Tana. Very loosely structured head, quickly reduced to some loose, pale beige bubbles around the edge and eventually disappearing altogether; very deep, stunningly beautiful copper colour, translucent, with warm bronze hue. Strong bouquet of candied cherries, caramel, sweet sherry, marmelade, madera, ripe blue plums, candied figs, cognac, sweet tobacco somewhere, very faintly, but with a bit of imagination, bringing back memories of artisanal, sweet, northern Italian cigars I used to smoke during a trip to Venice a dozen years ago. Candied sweet onset, marmelade, dates, some deep and ’dim’ sourishness, a little tart even, thick and very vinous mouthfeel, low carbo, thick caramel sweet middle part with a toasted touch; woodiness appears in the finish, very elegantly so, in the form of vanilla-ish oak flavors and gently drying tannins, followed by a long, heating, peppery glow of cognac-like alcohol and a dash of spicy, ’deeply situated’ hops for structure; the cigar infusion effect that was so emphasized, remains as good as unnoticeable, though there is a vague hint of smokiness somewhere retronasally. That doesn’t really matter though: this is clearly a high profile barleywine of typical Italian signature. The Italians have applied their know-how of wine to their young craft beer culture and especially in the barleywine style, this has lead to a string of impressive beverages; this one too is a great advertisement for what I am beginning to regard as the hotspot for barleywines in the craft beer world, la bella Italia. Draft sample at Bir&Fud Roma, Italy. 17.12.2016. Ciaone Alberto. Pour it dark brown color with small head. Aroma lots of crazy spices, figs, yeasty. Taste sweet caramel, candy sugar, pinch woody and vanilla, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, sticky, average carbonation, long finish. Good!
