Humle: Chinook. Senaste tappdatum var: 2010-11-24

I’m having trouble not comparing this to the fantastic Amarillo Spring they released last year. However it doesn’t feel fair to compare last years best beer with a new release, so I’m going to try and put that aside. This is a single hop IPA with Chinook. It has a fairly light body and a strong yet pleasant bitterness. It has a herbal grassy hop aroma with some hay, citrus and grapefruit. It has a very high drinkability, both of the times I tried it I finished the glass faster then expected. I think it’s a combination of light body and mellow flavours. This is definitely a nice beer but I feel it’s missing hop aroma, might be something else as well. I just can’t get that satisfied feeling. On the plus side this beer has been very stable in quality, all I’ve tried so far have tasted the same, no off flavours and difference in quality.

Bottled from Systembolaget Clear golden with a medium, white head. Very grassy and citric hoppy aroma and flavour; tropical fruits and grapefruit. Touch of diesel(?) in the flavour. Medium to high bitterness.

Draught at Ölrepubliken, Göteborg, Sweden. Hazy golden, firm white head. Strong citrus hoppy aroma. Well balanced, medium bitterness. Good, but I liked the 2010 version more.

Bottle. Pours a light clear orange body with a small white head. Nose is pale malts, peaches, hints of honey and grass. Smooth. Taste is more grassy hop tones, peaches and hints of spruce and caramel. OK and quite drinkable, but a tad bit boring.

Pours clear golden with a high head. Aroma is fruits and malts. Flavor is very bitter with very little malts and mostly just the hops. Pretty good.

Bottle from Systembolaget. A brief, big-bubbled greyish-blond head, covering a shimmering orangey-golden body. Seducing and superfresh hop aroma; Peaches, apricot, oranges and flowers. Light sweet, perfectly rounded malt body, balanced by a fair amount of citrussy, tropical fruit-accented hops. Properly light-bodied and creamy in the mouth. Nice fruity hop finish. What a treat! Even better than the 2010 version. The ultimate session beer?

SirLimpsalot (4706) - SWEDEN - FEB 26, 2011
Syrlig och gräsig humledoft. Mycket torr munkänsla av humlan. Frisk men känslan är inte optimal. Trevlig men lite för tunn eftersmak. Småtråkig.

33 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Clear, golden apperance with medium white head. Some lacing. Smells of pine, tropical fruit, grapefruit, spices, floral hops and a little malt. Very nice aroma. The flavour has little or no sweetness and medium bitterness towards the end. Appropriate for the style. Medium bodied with bitter ending. This beer has a lovely aroma and good taste in a nice balance. Very good value for money.

Bottle. Pale golden with big white head. Good aroma with citrus, hops and caramel. Refreshing taste of orange and grapefruit, malt and grass. Very good bitterness and it all makes a good refreshing beer
