estoves2 (98) - SWEDEN - JUL 2, 2007
Pours a dark red body. Fizzy head thats mostly white but is little red, it is short lasting. The body has a very beutiful color and a perfekt opacity. Aroma is of apelsineshell and flowery hops. Small notes of cassis directly after a fast pour. Gets more alcoholic at the end. Flavor is spicy, dried fruits. Small notes of flowery hops, clovelike. Very sweet and plumlike aftertaste, more than is usual in barley wines. It is very hard to find any alcoholic tast in it. Palate is thick and pretty harch. This beer has a very nice balance betwen the plumlike sweetness and the hops, dont understand why it has got that low rating.

Ungstrup (38422) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUN 24, 2007
Bottled. A deep red beer with a nice orangey head. The aroma is a bit on the light side, but what is there is sweet combined with notes of caramel, alcohol, dusty hops, peaches, and some over ripe fruits. The flavor is very sweet and quite powerful with strong notes of caramel and grapefruit, and medium notes of peaches, and alcohol, leading to a sweet bitter end with notes of alcohol and grapefruit lingering around.

Bov (13221) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUN 21, 2007
courtesy of Papsoe - cloudy dark amber-orange colour with a giant creamy and stable beige foam; aroma of bread, raisins and almonds; voluptuous mouthfeel, high sweetness and a robust malt body; a late and very pronounced bitterness, lot of residual sugars, some warming alcohol along with more notes of almonds and caramel - a great brew

Maria (10211) - Thisted, DENMARK - JUN 7, 2007
Vintage early 2006, I enjoyed it June 2007. The color is warm amber and the head is nice and creamy. The aroma is fruity with notes of apple, raisin and candy sugar. The flavour is sweetish with notes of alcohol, fruit, apple, raisin, candy sugar and a citrussy bitterness. IMO it should have more body. 2314

faroeviking (11220) - Chupando chellas es como ellas, FAROE ISLANDS - JUN 1, 2007
Bottle 2006. Pours a hazy dark orange colour with a big fizzy (noisy) light brown head that very fast becomes just bubbles. Aroma: woooooooooooo, that just bit me! Burned the few hairs I had in my nose. Alcohol big time, bit sour, sweet caramel, grass and raisins. The flavour: VERY sweet, too sweet....raisins, caramel, malt, more sweetness, alcohol, even more sweetness, fruity and malty and very siruppy sweet. The alcohol is noticeable but 12%...naaa get outta here..... well, this is a good nighty brew.

skortila (5987) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - MAY 26, 2007
Aroma is of grassy hops, some caramel malts, raisin and alcohol. Hazy, orange-brown coloured with a tin, off-white head. Taste is sweet, grassy hoppy with caramel malts and raisin. Quite alcoholic, winey. Full bodied.

EHSRanders (2086) - Tjele, DENMARK - MAY 19, 2007
UPDATED: JUL 11, 2011 Bottle. Hazy amber colour with large creamy white mostly lasting head. Very alcoholic aroma and taste. Not good.

omhper (25744) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAY 15, 2007
Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Hazy amber, fair sized head. Caramelly malt aroma. Sweet with some grassy hops trying to cover a rounded voluptous body with caramel, fruit, toffee. Vinous and warming. Intense salty finish. A good winter warmer.

3.8
jbrus (4988) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - APR 24, 2007
Bottled. Floral, herbal and raisin aroma as to be expected from a strong barley wine. Red/brown color, large off-white head, good lace. Very sweet, raisin, bitter, fruity, orange, light floral, light herbal. Quite complex actually. Full, syrupy and warming. Again a underrated Danish beer because it’s well brewed, according to the style, complex yet flavorful.

2.5
madsberg (11776) - Søborg, DENMARK - MAR 1, 2007
Bottled. Amber coloured. Unclear. Fluffy light brown head. Aroma and flavour is all about alcohol. Aroma has some flowery notes and flavour some light caramel notes. Given the high alcohol the body is quite light. All thats left in the end is alcohol. Way to unbalanced and onedimensional.
