Aroma: Smelling of caramel, burned sugar, honey, apricots and orange marmalade.
Appearance: A hazy hazel to chestnut brew, a warm off-white head that settles quickly leaving no lacing, but has some curtains.
Taste: Burned sugar, caramel, butter scotch, apricot marmalade, orange peel.
Palate: Low carbonation, small bubbles, oily and sticky, a big body, a warm dry finish.
Overall: I had expected more Madeira. sherry and Marzipan. Should maybe have been kept a few more years.
Note: Bottle 500 ml (Vintage 2008). Reviewed 2012-08-08.

ClubGonzo (5576) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 14, 2012
Bottle from Systembolaget in Nordstan, Gothenburg. Pours a deep brown-ruby clear body with a small white head. Nose is deep caramel, honey, smooth deep malts, hints of burnt sugar and alcohol. Smooth. Taste is smooth grainy caramel, roasty sugar tones, hints of licorice and toffee. Very nice blend, with a full-bodied and smooth palate. This is a very nice Barley Wine which has clearly benefited from being released 4 years after brewing. And to top it off: it’s ecological; one of the best I’ve had within that genre for sure. A very, very underrated brew in my opinion.

50cl bottle courtesy of and shared with gnoff as Vintage 2008, bottle # 6091.

Bottle as Vintage Beer 2008, nr. 006204. Amber, beige head. Aroma: floral, perfume, toffee, honey. Taste: vinous, toffee, earthy, some licorice, candy, sweet and malty, honey, medium bitter. Full-bodied. Something is missing for it to get a higher rating, but I enjoyed it.
