UPDATED: SEP 17, 2010 Bottle, 12%. Fat malt syrup aroma. Almost clear dark copper colour. Small frothy white head. The flavour is quite sweet and caramelly. Has a little metal note in the finish, Lots of alcohol, but not too much for the style. Creamy and dusty with some dried fruit. OK bitterness in the finish to round off. This still has 9 months to go unitil its expiry date, but I am convinced it would improve with at least a year more from now.

(Bottle) Pours medium reddish brown with a creamy, off-white head. The aroma holds honey and flowers up front. Some esters. Undertones of toffee, caramel, toast, sugar, anise, mint, dried fruits, nuts and bready malt. Hints of cheesy hops and light cardboard-like oxidation. Overall, a nice aroma that reminds me of good Mead. The flavour is medium to heavily sweet and light bitter with tones of honey, sugar, flowers, caramel, resins, anise, dark fruits and a light oxidation. The mouthfeel is not bad, no tart or astringent notes but maybe a bit too sticky. Light carbonation. Fruity and syrupy sweet finish. Medium to full bodied. No that bad, just too sweet.

PorterCall (44) - (Formerly UK), DENMARK - OCT 4, 2008
Bottle 500ml. Not impressed to start with, but... Copper coloured. Reasonable head which slow dissipation. Typical (ish) barley wine aroma, which is roasty, toasty, burnt caramel notes. Very sweet to start with, with a huge sticky palate. At the end rather quite drinkable! Not a classic barley wine, but maybe it will improve with age (perhaps!).
