Bottle sample at the source. Clear deep amber color. Aroma of flowers, very subtle pepper flesh. Taste has instant heat that is gone in a flash. Very nice. GenDV138 (7699) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - MAR 23, 2015
Bottle sample as part of the tasting set at Orchid Cellar. Golden yellow. Aromas of big peppers, honey. Tastes of honey, peppers, light vanilla. Light body with a dry finish. radagast83 (8476) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - DEC 22, 2014
Bottle at Orchid Cellar. Poured a still golden yellow color. Aroma was mild, almost unnoticeable pepper skin notes, honey, crisp sweet notes. Flavor was a stronger pepper heat note than the regular Hunter. Flavor was nice sweet notes, but what’s this at the finish? A nice powerful heat on the finish, but it isn’t overpowering. Heat doesn’t last super long. brokensail (16645) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 7, 2013
Bottle @ MJ’s house. Thanks! Clear golden pour. Aroma has some nice chili pepper to it. Sweet honey, caramel, and brown sugar. Notes of vanilla, some grass, and flowers. Flavor has a decent spice to it, but diminishes quickly. Sweet caramel, honey, and vanilla. Moderate chili pepper flavor, flowers, and grass. 3fourths (9358) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - SEP 9, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 21, 2013 Bottle. Semi-dark amber honey body, still. Apparently this is the extra-chile version of The Hunter, which was my personal best in show at the Mazer Cup 2013. This Big Game Hunter actually smells, tastes and feels like The Hunter from back in May. Great chile expression, heat and fruit pulp is there, certainly hot in a Thai chile way, which wouldn’t work without the rich honey expression which is nutty, earthy and woody. Silky texture, prickly chile acids, strong tempering sweetness. Delicious.
