COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlike the sweeter brown ales of england and other US microbreweries, this brown ale is dry and hoppy with a roasty finish. This amber dark beer is quite drinkable because it is less sweet and not as dark and thick as a stout porter.

A big, roasted but aroma with some iron to it. Smooth caramel and chocolate are overwhelmed by a pretty intense bitterness. A lot more than I was expecting.

On tap at Corvallis brewpub--Dry and hoppy amber colored beer with a nice roasted aftertaste. It appears that OT is more concerned with flavor than alcohol content in their beers. Nice!

2004 draught. Great mahogany brown appearance, mostly hazy with some light cherry reds peaking out and a small off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits and chocolate. Lightly salty and hoppy as well. Flavor is a mix of chocolate, sticky toffee, brown sugar and a strange almost beef jerky like saltiness. Ends dry and too watery. The yeast has gone mad and has some very strange notes, or is that stale hops? The roast seems a bit out of place on the light and watery finish. Starts out well but then just falls apart. That happens some times.

Sampled draught at Old World Deli/Oregon Trail Brewing, Corvallis
Brown color, nice head, nose of light crystal malts & fruity hops. Light roast & a bitter hop flavor. The finish is a bit tangy & too bitter for me. Next!

[email protected] Trail. Sweet nuts and caramel, quite malty, like their others, it felt a bit empty, but it was drinkable.
