COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting ale that was first brewed in 1824. It is the beer specialty of Leipzig and the oldest still existing Gose brand in the world. Gose is an own, ancient style of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with the special historic Gose yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by the additional lactate fermentation.
Brewed by Hartmannsdorf until 2014 (until 2007 @3.9%, then 4.2%), brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015.
World Beer Awards London: World’s Best Gose 2013, Europe’s Best Gose 2014, World Beer Idol 2016: Gose Gold, World Beer Cup 2016: Bronze Medal

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2017 Tap (Hilpea Haukki, Helsinki) (5:4:6:4:13=3.2)
Slightly lemony aroma, Anna gets boiled eggs. Lemonny wheaty taste. Light palate, pleasantly carbonated. Nice bite in the finish. Reminds me of baking, maybe lemon merangue pie? A bit quirky, but very drinkable and refreshing.
Rerate: 500ml bottle (K Kamppi, Helsinki) (6:4:6:4:13=3.3)
Lovely and drinkable.Salt low, acidity low. Balance just right. A total contrast against modern sour shite.
Rerate: Tap (BierBier, Helsinki) (5:3:5:3:10=2.6)
Fruity and dull. Not a patch on previous ones. Beginning to have my suspicions about BierBier’s taps...

Sample from a bottle. Very good and refreshing beer - salt flavour is very noticable, but is not overhelming the beer.

Bottle.Pours light golden in color, white head. Aroma is slightly sour, tart lemons, just a note of coriander, wheat and salty at the end. In taste citrus, lemon with a bit of wheat, medium sour. Low body, low bitter with tart and salty finish. Very nice and refreshing.

Pours light orange with almost no head. Aroma: kind of "wild" elements coupled with sea salt, with some malty peach aroma in the background. Taste: salty and bitter taste followed by a smooth, little salty finish. Pretty high carbonation. It is my first gose. Interesting.

500 ml bottle at Neons. Pours a barely cloudy gold on the lighter end of the spectrum with a small, wispy white film and tiny ring. Notes of lemon and lime citrus, sea salt, coriander, grass, straw, and a doughy, yeasty character throughout. Light-bodied, with a tart, dry mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Clean, and not bad.

TET (3133) - Kaarina, FINLAND - APR 4, 2015
A light yellow beer with a big and white head. Aroma has lemon, lactic acid, salt. Totally fresh. Taste has sourness, wheat, lemon, salt and freshness. Almost medium bodied, slipperyr to drink. Good beer and the lactic acid is combined naturally to the other flavours. Very refreshning.

Bottle. Hazy pale golden, foamy white head. Rubbery and muted citrus with salty seawatered hay in aroma. Citrus, slightly salty and sweet vibes in taste. Smooth mouthfeel. Some wheaty notes as well. The drinkability is really good here, this is something one could consume much of, especially during the summer time. Light spicyness towards the end.
