COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting ale that was first brewed in 1824. It is the beer specialty of Leipzig and the oldest still existing Gose brand in the world. Gose is an own, ancient style of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with the special historic Gose yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by the additional lactate fermentation.
World Beer Awards London: Worlds Best Gose 2013, Europes Best Gose 2014, World Beer Idol 2016: Gose Gold, World Beer Cup 2016: Bronze Medal
Brewed by Hartmannsdorf until 2014 (until 2007 @3.9%), brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015.

Orange color, medium white head. Heavy malt aromas, slight yeast character, some spices and herbs. Malt base with a tart taste, like unripe gooseberries. Not sure if I like the taste or not, but a cool beer concept.

Bottle sample at a tasting, thanks Vova. Clear yellow golden. Aroma of minerals, yeast, funk and salt. Sweet-sour, fruity, lactic, salty, dry finish. Medium-bodied. Nice.

At a tasting, many thanks, small creamy bubbly jead, light hazy palish orang color, aroma of yeast and roots with some fruitiness in the back, flavor of lemon, minerals and herbs, quite sour and salty but also really mellow. Easy to drink and really enjoyable.

Oddly grapey nose, concord grapes and white wine. Hazy amber, thin head. Tart sauvignon blanc, oak, faint wheat bread. Medium body, somewhat spritzy. I like it.

0.5 l bottle from Rudat, best before May 2016. Clear, golden yellow with a thin, fluffy, quickly collapsing, white head. Sweetish, spicy and a bit sourish-fruity aroma of lots of coriander, apple peel, some citrus and wheat. Sourish-fruity, slightly spicy taste of citrus, apple peel, wheat, some vanilla and coriander, followed by a short, slightly tart, rather spicy and a little salty-minerally finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Tasty and refreshing, very well-balanced, overall highly drinkable and a good Gose!

Clear and golden. Aroma is strangely salty and perfumed. Salty and a bit sour. Good if you have a mouth ulcer.

Bomber into a pint glass. Pours a cloudy light yellow, with a small white head that fades quickly. Nose is a very faint aroma of citrus. Taste is light malt up front, giving way to slightly tart and slightly salty wheat. Short finish. Not bad, but not my favorite gose.

500ml bottle from Seijo Ishii. Pours gold with a decent head of white foam. Sour aroma, acidic, a hint of yoghurt, ale malt, citrus. Nice flavour, very citric and tart. Mild undercurrent of salt which carries a refreshing aspect. Light, reasonably dry summer beer, lingering citrus. Nicely balanced and enjoyable.
