COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting ale that was first brewed in 1824. It is the beer specialty of Leipzig and the oldest still existing Gose brand in the world. Gose is an own, ancient style of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with the special historic Gose yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by the additional lactate fermentation.
Brewed by Hartmannsdorf until 2014 (until 2007 @3.9%, then 4.2%), brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015.
World Beer Awards London: World’s Best Gose 2013, Europe’s Best Gose 2014, World Beer Idol 2016: Gose Gold, World Beer Cup 2016: Bronze Medal

Eructoblaster (4330) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 22, 2017
Bottle - 500ml. Beautiful golden, hazy body with an average, slowly fading, white foamy head. Fresh malty/hoppy aroma with grassy, coriander, and flowery hints. Its well balanced malty/hoppy taste carries citrusy, salty, and herbal notes. Ends with a sharp, dry, sour finish. Very good example of Gose.

JPDIPSO (6262) - Wauwatosa, USA - MAY 29, 2017
Deep golden to light tan color with a modest off-white head. Pale lightly toasted malt, light apple skin and citrus. Light sweet malt with a tart backdrop (sour cherry). Finish is slightly herbal and a touch of salt. Refreshing and light in the finish. Gets darker with each pour addition, with a little yeast and toasted malt addition.

500 ml bottle from Canada Craft Club. Pours a murky orange colour with small white head. Aroma is light, bright fruitiness, salt and a little graininess. Flavour has tart lemon and peach with fair amount of saltiness, a little yeasty funk and some light graininess. Lightly carbonated. Nice.

cloudy yellowish, some fizz but a bit lifeless in the glass (very little pop on decrowning, worth noting, the crown seemed a tad loose). Great nose, cheese and sour beer funk, nice mix of tart and mineral and salt flavors. Low carbonation. Light-medium body, tart semi-sweet finish. Lingering salt in the palate.

Appearance: slightly hazy straw with a short-lived fizzy white head, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: mild, lemon, brine, wheat, coriander. (6/10) Taste: moderate-low sweet, moderate tart, minimal bitter. (6/10) Palate: light body, lively to moderate carbonation, crisp tart and lightly salty finish. (4/5) Not bad, but not particularly interesting. I wonder if it’s a little elderly, because the head was short and short-lived, and the carbonation fell off rapidly. Bottom line, could stand to be a little brighter. (12/20) My 237th from the 2010 Edition of 1001 Beers You Must Taste Before You Die, 226th from the 2013 edition, and 249th combining both editions. 6/10 #1001beers #ryansbooze ryansbooze.com

Bottle. Pours a clear golden beer with a small white head on top that settles quickly into nothing. Aroma has sour fruits, some peach, very light caramel malts, some wild yeast. Flavor is lightly tart, white fruits, a very light pinch of salt in the background, very dry in moutfheel, quite high in carbonation and fairly long in light tart aftertaste. A bit one-sided, still refreshing and quite enjoyable to drink. Nice example of the style for sure. Decent.
