COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting ale that was first brewed in 1824. It is the beer specialty of Leipzig and the oldest still existing Gose brand in the world. Gose is an own, ancient style of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with the special historic Gose yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by the additional lactate fermentation.
World Beer Awards London: Worlds Best Gose 2013, Europes Best Gose 2014, World Beer Idol 2016: Gose Gold, World Beer Cup 2016: Bronze Medal
Brewed by Hartmannsdorf until 2014 (until 2007 @3.9%), brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015.

Cloudy golden pour with a thick white head. Solid aroma of salt, sourness, wheat, mild citrus. Very good flavor of sourness, wheat, salt and citrus. The body is medium to full with an oily texture and soft carbonation. This is very interesting.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden beer with a small white head on top that settles quickly into nothing. Aroma has sour fruits, some peach, very light caramel malts, some wild yeast. Flavor is lightly tart, white fruits, a very light pinch of salt in the background, very dry in moutfheel, quite high in carbonation and fairly long in light tart aftertaste. A bit one-sided, still refreshing and quite enjoyable to drink. Nice example of the style for sure. Decent.

500ml brown bottle. Hazy yellow. White head fades out quickly. Aromas of lemon, saltwater, coriander and wheat. Flavours of lemon, wheat, salt. Tangy with light sourness with a salty finish. Very nice.

Interesting that is this is the oldest continuously brewed example of this kind of beer that this would be pretty much the definition of it and yet its not as quite appealing to me as I would have hoped. Aromas raisins, wet grain, musty. Flavors mainly tart, hints of sweet, salt, a little fruit. Great body and good carbonation. Decent long finish.

500ml bottle pours a golden orange color with a finger of white head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is lemon with some coriander spice and hints of yeast and grass. Taste is a lemon tartness with a grassy hop bitterness and light fruity and malty sweetness. Light bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a well done brew that exemplifies the style. Recommended.

Nice labels with a lot of information, cloudy golden beer with short white head, smell is sour and salty, taste is sour but not too much, good drinkability and perfect for hot days, (I have 0.5l bottle with best-before 4/17 11:45 and batch L2226P11)

Bottle, pours golden amber with a fast-settling head, faintly tart, nutty and corny nose with a note of citrus skins. On the palate the initial saltiness is very light and just enough to prickle, then theres a tartness thats somehow lemony and refreshing without tasting of lemon. Rather more-ish...
