Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting ale that was first brewed in 1824. It is the beer specialty of Leipzig and the oldest still existing Gose brand in the world. Gose is an own, ancient style of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with the special historic Gose yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by the additional lactate fermentation.
World Beer Awards London: Worlds Best Gose 2013, Europes Best Gose 2014, World Beer Idol 2016: Gose Gold, World Beer Cup 2016: Bronze Medal
Brewed by Hartmannsdorf until 2014 (until 2007 @3.9%), brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015.

Bottle from local Seijo Ishii store. Nose of light citrus, lactic in sinuses, with minerals, and some funk. Light tangy fruit, rhubarb, sour and chewy, wheat, light salt, and a bit of spice. Thin and gently astringent. A decent gose, Hits the basic marks. Very drinkable (but rather pricey in Japan).

Mild sour apple aroma, cloudy yellow appearance. Very lightly carbonated with savory and spicy palate, highly fermented. Not bad for a gose, just not my favorite style - it almost tastes like a savory cider.

Very true to artistic style! This pours a hazy straw into the glass, with an initially soapy head that quickly diminishes to no lace of which to speak. The nose is is of kiwi and lime; lots of tropical fruits. Flavors are similar, sour and tart fruit, of limes, grapefruit, lemons and completely unripened apples and cherries. The finish continues the sour notes, accompanied by a nice lick of saltiness with an ever-so-slight coriander effervescence. The light body and active mouthfeel is extremely quaffable and juicy to the palate. A grand demonstration of the Gose style, this is a superb offering and one that has stood the test of time.
