Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting ale that was first brewed in 1824. It is the beer specialty of Leipzig and the oldest still existing Gose brand in the world. Gose is an own, ancient style of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with the special historic Gose yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by the additional lactate fermentation.
World Beer Awards London: Worlds Best Gose 2013, Europes Best Gose 2014, World Beer Idol 2016: Gose Gold, World Beer Cup 2016: Bronze Medal
Brewed by Hartmannsdorf until 2014 (until 2007 @3.9%), brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015.

Nice labels with a lot of information, cloudy golden beer with short white head, smell is sour and salty, taste is sour but not too much, good drinkability and perfect for hot days, (I have 0.5l bottle with best-before 4/17 11:45 and batch L2226P11)

Bottle, pours golden amber with a fast-settling head, faintly tart, nutty and corny nose with a note of citrus skins. On the palate the initial saltiness is very light and just enough to prickle, then theres a tartness thats somehow lemony and refreshing without tasting of lemon. Rather more-ish...

Id say that when it comes to Goses everyone is doing their take nowadays. Look no further than to the original. Aroma is grassy and citrusy with wheat crackers. Taste is lemon fresh with minerals and light tartness. Its not that salty that you would expect, but very balanced salty minerals. Great stuff.

Bottle from local Seijo Ishii store. Nose of light citrus, lactic in sinuses, with minerals, and some funk. Light tangy fruit, rhubarb, sour and chewy, wheat, light salt, and a bit of spice. Thin and gently astringent. A decent gose, Hits the basic marks. Very drinkable (but rather pricey in Japan).
