COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Original Sin was born out of the NYC experience. The founders, all NYC’ers, came to see the need for a superior cider, a cider that was clean and complex with a noticeable bite. The quest to create the perfect recipe encompassed both day and night. Day was spent in upstate in a winery, tasting, testing and mixing. Nights were spent in NYC bars, getting feedback from bar owners and patrons. The result, Original Sin Hard Cider was released to immediate acclaim from sources as diverse as the The New York Times, Paper Magazine, and Market Watch.

12 oz (350ml) bottle, 5.5%. Clear pale yellow colour, foam white head and aroma of sugary fruity apple. Taste is sweet, apple, fruity, melon, light wood and abit of tartness. Slightly foamy mouthfeel, light bodied, low to medium carbonation, dryish finish with some residual sweetness. Quite OK.

Smell is apple cranberry like. Cherry obviously but smells kind of cranberry like with a faint touch of alcohol. Taste is like apples and cherries with a tiny amount of alcohol showing up. Medium body and light to normal carbonation. Decent and not medicinal cherry tasting at least, but i’d prefer not noticing any alcohol at all. Not the most natural tasting either, but its ok.

Original Sin cider has been around for a while now. Never gave much thought to cider prior to OS. Had only partaken in such low quality ciders as Woodchuck, Strongbow, etc. But OS opened my mind to the potential of ciders and how enjoyable they really can be. To be truthful, it’s not exceptional, but for the price it’s damn good. . Much better (and better for you) than Inbev (Johnny Appleseed) or MillerCoors (Smith & Forge) offerings. It’s at the same price point in my area as Angry Orchard, yet much drier and more refined. It’s not an ultra-premium hand crafted cider like some local offerings here in Richmond, VA as in Blue Bee, Albemarle Cider Works, or Potters, but it’s not priced to be. Expect an effervescent, clean tasting cider, that leans toward off-dry but in comparison to similarly priced 6-pack ciders out there it would have to be considered a dry. Good, not great, but extremely drinkable. Cheers!

Bottle at home with the wife. Pours a pale yellow color with no head. The aroma is apples, very juicy, the lightest hint of wood, mild tart, not too much going on. I would rather just drink non alcoholic apple cider. Pass.

On tap @ Quality in Champaign IL. Very pale yellow with the faintest green tinge. Medium carbo. Simple apple aroma and flavour, a bit too sweet for me.

12oz bottle. Golden pour. The aroma is apples, apple juice, faint yeastiness. Okay flavor, mildly sweet, apples and apple juice, hints at yeast and a touch of tartness. Not bad.

12 oz bottle. From alesbymail.co.uk.
Almost colourless liquid with some faint yellowish hints. Sugary sweetness, sulphites and fruit essence in the aroma. The flavour is very dry with apple, apple wine, alcohol and sulphite notes. Not the worst dry apple cider but not a pleasure either.

On tap at Olde Hickory. Pours a very light yellow color with white head. Big apple juice flavor. I don’t taste the alcohol in this one at all.
