Cask @ GBBF 2007, London. Black color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, strong coffee, burnt. Flavor is light to moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to short duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat.

From cask at Tennents. Pours dark brown with a dense and creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and slight butterish. Dark malty and slight breadish. Mild liqourice, roasted malt and hops bitter into a dry and bitter finish.

Cask at Bon Accord, Glasgow. A deep red beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of dark Danish rye-bread and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and Danish rye-bread, but the body is thin.

Cask @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester. Pours a dark brown almost black color with a small off-white head. Has a strong roasted malty chocolate aroma. Fruity roasted malty chocolate flavor with some hints of caramel. Has a fruity roasted malty chocolate finish.

[email protected] Dark rubyish amber colour with small beige head. Aroma is caramel, slight stinging sweetness along with red berries and roasted malts. Flavour is roasted malts, raisins and dark dry fruits. Pleasant and refreshing.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2011 Cask ... Deep solid black ... Solid head ... Nice roast malt nose ... Smooth sweet chocolate ... no real bitternesss ... lots of sweet roast malts ... some hop in linger ... Good balance... I checked(twice) that this wasnt a rebadge of Dark Island, and was assured it wasnt.

Black colour, with a roasted malt nose , deep roast malt flavour thats quite stout like cask at blue blazer .. deep red black ... thin tan head ... soft malty coffee roast ... big licorice ... soft puff candi ... dark roast ... nt great today. 3.4

Cask at Horniman. Pours cloudy brown with a strong, foamy off-white head. Cocoa and roasted malt aroma. Fairly sweet with a strong hot chocolate character. Medium bodied with fine carbonationM finishes dry and roasty with some dark malt sweetness. Good stuff.

Gravity dispense at Ascot Racecourse Beer Festival 2012 - 06/10/12. Mid black, brown hues in the light, with a thin tan head. Big roast malt nose with dark bitter chocolate and molasses being prominent also. Tastes of rich roast malt, chocolate, a touch of coffee, dark toffee. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Good tipple!
