Decent black stout. Not overly thick or in your face but balanced with a bit of chocolate and coffee. This is a stout for your nonbeer buddy.

Jabic (562) - Plainfield, Vermont, USA - JUN 24, 2017
Ar: Cocoa, dried cherry and dried strawberry. Ap: Black and opaque; medium-large mocha head with moderate retention, leaving a thin but solid cap of foam. T: Toffee, caramel, and chocolate; very little sweetness; roast and dried pear; bitterness is medium, quite firm, and slightly herbal in taste; coffee and char on the finish. P: Light body with high carbonation; finish is dry. O: A middle-of-the-road stout; bold roasted flavor with some esters and hops showing through; fairly light in body, but still quite flavorful.

500ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a medium, creamy, long lasting, brown head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and caramel. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, licorice, bitter coffee and a hint of smoke with a dry, tangy hop finish. Light to medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. A nice stout for such a low ABV.

Bottle. Pitch Black in colour. Very Malty; espresso coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts, liquorice, hint of smoke. Hoppy; spicy and rather earthy hops. Smooth. Sweetish roast malty throughout. Mildly bitter sour hoppy finish. Easy drinking. Sessionable. Liked this. Nice stout! (2009-05)

$5.49 500 ml bottle from Market Steer Wine Shop, Downtown. Pours BLACK with a giant, soft brown head. Luscious aroma of smoked peat, chocolates, coffee, earth, wood - this is amazing. Flavor is quote similar, yet not as strong. Smoked peat, light chocolate, coffee grounds. Slightly earthy, slightly woody. It doesn’t check in with that higher alcohol stout, but damn - if it did this would be a masterpiece.

hauxe (712) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - MAY 31, 2016
Pours black with a muddy head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee grounds, and is a touch vinous. It works and is very inviting. Taste is pleasantly bitter and quite dry, with roasted coffee, nuts, and smoke all present. The finish remains bitter, but also takes on a light sourness from the hops. Body is lighter than average for a stout, but I would not describe it as watery. A good stout, particularly if searching for a stout with a lower than average ABV.

Slubgob (324) - West Hartford, USA - MAY 30, 2016
Bottle into wine glass. Black, cream head clings to side of glass. Nose is a bit sweet, i’d’ve guessed aged in bourbon barrels. Very dry stout, chocolate, coffee, and toffee. Slightly bitter finish. Very nice dry stout.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Max & Stas. Black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, a bit of licorice, caramel, nuts, and a smoky hint. Sweetish flavor, with chocolate, nuts, caramel, a bit of dark fruits, mild smokiness, and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied. A good one.
