3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml brown bottle. Deep orange body. Head is light tan, dense, tthick and long lasting. Lots of thick lacing. Nose has sweet malts, a bit of fruit and citrus peels. Taste is pretty hoppy, nice citrus notes, some sweetness and caramel malts, some fruitiness. Finishes hoppy with lasting grapefruity and orange peel like hops. Also a lasting malt note that is a bit earthy and nutty. Light body, mild carbonation. Lots of flavour for a lighter alc beer, and gorgeous in the glass. Overall this is a nicely hopped UK red ale that is richer and hoppier than expected.
From the 500 ml. bottle stamped L5187-10:55. The color is ruby red amber with a modest off-white head. The aroma is floral with a caramel-toffee character. There is also a subtle sort of pipe tobacco or peat moss character on the nose too. The body is thinner than I would have liked. The taste has the same sweet malt toffee, caramel, and peat moss character with a musty bitterness to end. Piepenhenrich (1288) - Steinbach, GERMANY - OCT 18, 2017
Pours dark red-brown with a decent off-white, almost beige head. Fruity aroma. An elegant bitterness combines with roasted malts and slightly herbal notes. Flavorful, well-balanced flavors with a bitter touch. Very good! ManuKovfefe (2) - alghero, ITALY - OCT 12, 2017 does not count

Ar: Deep toasted malt, bready with a pronounced slightly burnt caramel edge; mossy hops, with hints of lemon and orange. Ap: Deep amber-red; clear, though depth of color makes it difficult to tell; small off-white head with low retention, leaving thin ring of foam and some splotches of bubbles. T: Toast, burnt caramel, and a hint of butterscotch; light sweetness; slightly tannic, black tea hop flavor, moss and lemon peel; deep bread and marmalade; finish is toast and light bitters. P: Medium-light body with medium-low carbonation; some diacetyl slickness; finish is medium-dry. O: Very good ESB; great depth of malt, characterfully British; notes of marmalade, burnt caramel, butterscotch, and moss are also spot on for the style.

Bottle. Dark red-brown colour. Very malty full-bodied beer (roast, toasted malts, buttery caramel). Fruity. Flowery spicy hops. Rather earthy (peaty?) bitter taste. Hints of smoke? Bitter roast malty finish. Very drinkable. (2008)

Karamel, licht wurzig maar waterig in smaak. Best complex maar dun.
Licht aroma - beetje hoppiger. Niks speciaal, wel doordrinkbaar. 500ml fles. hershiser2 (3825) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - OCT 15, 2016
$5.49 500 ml bottle from Market Street Wine Shop, Downtown. Pours murky brown with an inch plus of creamy beige head. Aroma is strong floral hops, almost perfumey, as well as light citrus, caramel, and apple? Flavor is highly floral, with rose hips, black tea, orange, caramel, raisin, violet?, nuts. Quite nice.
