"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

weordie (1429) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2017
Pours ruby red with a thin head. Aroma is boozy currants and plums, sweet malt and sherry. Flavour is boozy currants, plums and dry white grapes.

rodsquad (352) - Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - NOV 25, 2017
Bottle. Really nice toffee on the nose with sticky treacle, boozy vapour and a little orchard fruits. Beer feels full bodied with a gentle dry sparkle. It all feels right. Taste has heaps of treacly goodness with a warm alcohol afterglow. An earthy bittering finish. This is a sweet treacle boozefest of an ale. Nice stuff but take it easy.

bottle. had at total random at JK's. rich, full bodied Scotch Ale - for sure one of the better of the style I've had. quite good

Blastomorpha (131) - - NOV 17, 2017
Pours dark rubt with a thin white head.
Some nutty and alcoholic notes in the aroma.
Not very sweet, hoppy traces in mouth too.
A little skunky.
Quite bland overall.

Piepenhenrich (1246) - Steinbach, GERMANY - NOV 17, 2017
Pours red-brown with almost no head. Has a thick malty aroma. First impression is hefty, boozy. After a while the malty flavors coexist well with the strong, alcoholic taste. Interesting. But not for every day.

mabuzzer (921) - Hamilton, SCOTLAND - NOV 9, 2017
330ml bottle in a snifter glass. Clear, dark reddish brown with a foamy tan head that fizzed away pretty quickly. Aroma is boozy fruit cake, rum hints. Taste is broadly similar. Warming alcohol is surprisingly prominent for an 8.5% beer.

beer_fanatique37 (4) - - OCT 24, 2017 does not count
This is the beer that made me a Scottish beer lover. Malt, malt, and more malt. This is the ultimate malt lovers beer. No hoppy notes to speak of. Waay more malty than an Irish red. Love this stuff... and the artwork isn't just hype. Seriously wish I could find more but no restock in awhile. This does have a similar taste and appearance to a weaker German doppelbock.

Aggiebob (1322) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - OCT 16, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2017 Bottle. It poured a murky brown with a white head and lacing. The aroma includes notes of caramel, mollases and spices and a sense of bourbon. Nice scotch ale.

cmacklin (1331) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 5, 2017
330ml bottle. Pours a hazy ruby with a small, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, figs, dates, spice and alcohol. Sweet flavour of
caramel malt, plums, raisins, figs, dates, spice and a hint of chocolate with warming alcohol in a dry, mildly bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. A decent scotch ale.

17Beer (425) - Connecticut, USA - SEP 27, 2017
330ml bottle. Scents of sherry and ripe fruit and raisins. Pours a cloudy brown with a tan head that is big and fades. Lacing. Vegetable, caramel and leather tastes with alcohol and a sour bite.
