"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

Not sure I would recommend this for people looking for a barleywine. That is what it is described as, but it pours, tastes and smells more like an old ale. Hardly any hops at all, but very malty from beginnign to end. Pours a reddish amber with a thin, white head. Some elather and clove with raisin and vanilla. Complex combination of malts that simply works from beginning to end.

Very complex nose with aromas of honey, plums, almonds and caramel, followed by a full mouthfeel with again, very complex flavours of red grape, chocolate, cherry, bourbon, caramel, liquorice and vanilla. An absolutely stunning beer and one to treasure.

Aroma has caramel, honey, liquorish wine, dark fruit jam, malty sweetness and is very low on hops. Taste is sweet and strong, body is medium and carbonation low. Earthy bitterness, caramel, jam, alcoholic vapors. Enjoyable, but a bit too sweet and rough on the tongue.

Pours a clear reddish brown with a medium full light beige head. I find some whisky in the aroma, along with caramel, earthy malt, raisin, molasses, and a bit of peat. The taste is moderately sweet. Lightly bitter. The flavors mirror the nose. Its earthy and has plenty of caramel. Raisin, cherry, and whisky as well. It has a sort of odd cola taste to it. Sweet caramel finish lasts for awhile. Even though most of what this offers is pretty standard for this style, for some reason this one doesn’t really agree with me as much. Medium in body, smooth in texture, and average in carbonation. I wouldn’t buy this again.

Bottle. Clear dark brown red color. Beige head. Caramel sweet nose, bready, brown sugar. Flavor is caramel sweet, earthy hops, light warmth. Nice. Bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Caramel apple, jolly rancher-like beer, rather overbearingly sweet and candied. Sticky. Hardly classy

Sweet, malty, roasted smell and taste with only a little bitterness. Tasted like a cough drop with artificial strawberry after a while. "Deceptively light" as touted on the bottle to the point of watery. Not much depth otherwise.

Bottle. Pours orange gold with a huge rocky head. Substantial lacing. Low carbonation. Aromas of roasted caramel malts and earthy hops. Sweet caramel flavors upfront, toasted malts, a bit of dark fruit, brown sugar and lingering earthy flavors. Mild hoppiness. Substantially rich, malty and very smooth with noticeable alcohol warmth. This puts me in the mood for a warm seat near a cozy fire. Very nice.
