"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

pours a red-copper with a thin beige head. smell - fruit, caramel apple, malt. taste - sweet, prune, brown sugar, malt, leaves the mouth on the oily side, not too dry.

10 ounce draft at Winking Lizard. Thin beige head, film on glass. Dark brown in color. Looks lovely! Aromas of sweetness and fruit. Taste of fruit and wine tones. Sweet. Smooth, a little after taste. Overall a nice medium body scotch ale. Cheers!

Dark red/light brown, maybe slight haziness. Small slightly off-white head, decent retention, scarce lacing. Aroma has caramel, dark/dried fruits (figs most noticeable), slight spiciness and a bit of alcohol warmth. Average intensity. Taste follows the aroma notes, with dominant sweetness. Alcohol too easily evident and a bit of a sticky/sweet finish. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation, possibly too carbonated per style. Overall fair in terms of intensity but not at all well balanced or refined.

Malzig süß mit dunklen Aromen von Holz, ganz leicht Schokoladig und dunkler Frucht. Spürbarer Alkohol. Leider fehlt ein wenig die Balance.

Pours hazy dark brown with medium head. Aroma is dried fruit and toffee. Taste is sweet fruits, moving to a more sour bite and finishing with a smooth caramel. A good Scotch ale.

Bottle. Really nice toffee on the nose with sticky treacle, boozy vapour and a little orchard fruits. Beer feels full bodied with a gentle dry sparkle. It all feels right. Taste has heaps of treacly goodness with a warm alcohol afterglow. An earthy bittering finish. This is a sweet treacle boozefest of an ale. Nice stuff but take it easy.

Blastomorpha (150) - - NOV 17, 2017
Pours dark rubt with a thin white head. Some nutty and alcoholic notes in the aroma. Not very sweet, hoppy traces in mouth too. A little skunky. Quite bland overall.

Piepenhenrich (1285) - Steinbach, GERMANY - NOV 17, 2017
Pours red-brown with almost no head. Has a thick malty aroma. First impression is hefty, boozy. After a while the malty flavors coexist well with the strong, alcoholic taste. Interesting. But not for every day.
