"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

11.2oz. bottle served in a Duvel glass. Poured a dark copper/brown with a little more than a finger of off white head. Rich malty aroma with caramelized sugar, toffee, and fruit. Full bodied with lots of malt. Molasses sweetness. There are some hops in the middle to balance the sweetness. Nice scotch ale.

330ml bottle. Pours an average size foamy head and goes away pretty quick. Has an amberécopper appearance and has pretty good lacing. Faint aromas, mainly toasty and nutty malts, with a herbal hop type scent. Flavours of spice and resin hops, raisins, other dry fruits and mild spices. Pretty good balance between sweet and bitter. Prickly and tanigling sensation. Medium carbonation. Very mild bitterness in the finish. Pretty good stuff.

Color is nearly identical to Wild Turkey Bourbon. A bit darker. Deep red- Brown with amber overtones. 1/4 inch of tannish foam. Nose, malty not particularly aromatic. Some molasses, forest floor, Autumn rain, light notes of Carmel. Taste, fruitcake, Guinness stout, salty nutty Carmel, malty bitter-sweet finish. Full flavor but balanced, not to thick. Ok this is a good Scottish Ale, but this fucker really comes alive when paired with a strong single malt whisky. When this ale supports Laphroaig 10 year it’s all over. The malt profiles match wonderfully. The Laphroaig becomes more focused and heightened. The Ale becomes more well rounded and less sweet in its forward flavors. But the magic is the finish. The peat of the scotch mixes with the ale and lingers in a perfect harmonious poetry. Bonner City !

Appearance- murky, muddy brown, some sediment, not much head. Aroma- raisin, plum, red wine, chocolate and toffee, fudge, fruitcake, marzipan, cherry. Taste- boozy fruitcake, cherry skin, nutty, sweet malt, figs, malt loaf, toffee, sugary dark fruit, boozy vinous finish. Sticky and rich, and full-bodied.

Pours a brown colour. Taste is malty and fruity with a warming alcohol, dried fruit and winter spice. Would make a good Christmas beer

Really not my jazz. Kinda bitter, a bit bland yet tart. Some malt, light fruit notes as well.

0.33 l bottle from ’REWE Budnik & Homberg’, bottled in August 2013 (three years old). Clear, deep red with a medium large, dense, almost stable, beige head. Faint, sweetish-malty and a little fruity aroma of toffee, raisins and prunes. Sweetish-malty, moderately fruity and a little oxidized taste of toffee, raisins, prunes and hints of oak, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, a bit warming-alcoholic and minimally vinous finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite nice, maybe already a bit past its prime, but it held up well! Surprisingly, it’s still quite alcoholic, but just in a pleasant way.

Clear brown with white head. Nuts, bread, figs, alcohol and toffee. Sweet, sticky, noble hops and long thick finish. Good!

Bottle, 33 cl, Au comptoir de la bière, Callian (83). Overall pleasant: malty, coffee aroma but at a sophisticated level. Full mouthfeel but not too boozy. A bit watery. Would gladly try again.

bottle @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Aroma of dark malt and toffee. Nearly clear amber brown color, ivory head that slowly drops to a full cover, sheets of lace. Taste is full-bodied malt and toffee that moves through medium carbonation and light dark dried fruit in the swallow to semi-sweet toffee that grows, and light bitters that move things to a medium-length finish. Full, balanced, satisfying. I’ll drink it again.

Red-brown color with solid thick foam head (and some particles). Shy sweet and light alcoholic nose. The taste is creamy thick with a raisin sweetness with some decent licorice and an alcoholic touch. Pleasant sweet finish with a fruity (dates) sweet and sticky aftertaste.
