Pours a dark brown nearly black with a small tan head. Aroma has coffee and chocolate notes. Tastes very much as expected for style with just the right amount of bitterness. beerfest5 (1207) - Cloneen, IRELAND - JUN 21, 2011
A very nice surprise given where we were staying in orlando was not exactly a beer Mecca at any stretch of the imagination. Nice black color, almost black ipa-ish in it’s aroma, and although not extremely hoppy like a bipa, still very delicious

Poured from a 12oz bottle. Pours dark brown, nearly black with a thin beige head. Aroma is coffee and roasted malts. Taste is heavy on the stale coffee. PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 22, 2011
Orlando, Fl - Whole Foods - 12 oz bottle, Very dark brown pour, brief off white head. Nice earthy aroma, black dirt, coffee. Flavor has a bit of chocolate, some black coffee and a bit of black dirt. Mouthfeel has some nice chalkiness to it, but ends up a bit oily. Decent.

Bottle at Disney Garden Grill: Poured a deep black with a light brown head. The aroma was roasted malts and bakers chocolate. The taste was what I expect of a porter by style, very chalky with baking chocolate with just enough malt to break it up. The finish is dry and doesn’t leave me thinking it should be in a stout category as most new porters do.

A deep dark porter with a thin brown head. In aroma, a very pleasant coffee grain, bitter chocolate, nice burned point. In mouth, a classy porter with bitter chocolate, light cherry fruits, a bit light but good. On tap at brewpub, Jan. 7 2011, SanfordBrewer (1576) - Sanford, Florida, USA - MAY 8, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2010 tap at brewery and elsewhere and my own ratings have varied greatly by batch/location, so i’m going with my most recent rating from the brewery, even though the total score is only half of what i gave it the first time i had it.hopdog (12584) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 10, 2010
opaque black, dense tan head, medium-thin body.
some bright vegetal sourness in the aroma.
malt profile is weak, and seems stretched thin. lots of charr but no roast, like it’s all pale and black malts with nothing in between. a bit of licorice up front, with mostly charred malt in the astringently dry finish.
hop profile is also rather weak.
overall, somewhat like a licoricy guinness. it grows on you a bit, but is just lacking in overall depth and character.
12oz bottle. Poured a dark black color, with brown edges, and a small sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate and some roast. Tastes of roast, chocoloate and some earthiness. HOPSHUNTER (742) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 9, 2010
