Bottle. Roasted malt aromas, lots of chocolate and vanilla as per the description. Also, quite spicy (cinnamon). Pretty harsh chocolate taste, very roasted but with a good bitter alcoholic finale and well dosed sweetness. Decent, creamy mouthfeel. Boutip (6344) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 19, 2009
Bottle: Poured a dark black color stout with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and some pretty good lacing. Aroma of vanilla and chocolate with some light roasted malt notes also discernible. Taste is a very nice mix between some sweet black chocolate with light dry coffee notes from the roasted malt and a lightly sweet vanilla finish. Body is slightly thin for style but carbonation is perfect and alcohol is very well hidden. Very well made and good balance between flavor thought additional body would have benefited this beer.

Pours a jet black with appealing beige head. Aroma is a pleasant blend of earthy chocolates, roasted malt and a touch of vanilla. Taste is robust with nice bitter accents of chocolates and coffees, finishes a little dry and tart with a very slight heat on the tongue. Nice syrupy texture in the body, well carbonated and adeptly concealed alcohol content. A very nice example, and I would say it is comparable in many ways to Dieu Du Ciel’s highly acclaimed ’Aphrodisiaque’. rodenbach99 (4572) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 13, 2009
Murky dark brown, thin beige head. Nose of heavy licorice, alcohol, cream, and minor oat. Light roast, oat, banana, and smoke in the flavor, unique combination that surprisingly works. Heavy banana through the finish. Quite enjoyable.
Bottle thanks to glouglouburp. Lots of rich roasted flavors. Some smoke and vanilla that takes the edge off the bitterness. Quite nice. robinvboyer (4614) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 15, 2009
Odd aroma for the style. Lots of nuts, and some banana, reminds me of banana bread, with some roster malt and a touch of smoke. Flavor is much of the same but there is a prominent bitterness that is interesting. It’s really quite bitter and really sticks with you after the nutty breadiness. Interesting take on the style. 500 mL bottle. Pours almost opaque, with a little ruby where the light gets through. Nice little head. Looks great. Strong roast and nuts aroma, with a little sweetened chocolate in there as well. Not bad. Flavour goes through several stages, with chocolate, caramel sweetness, distinct alcohol, and a bitter (roast) finish. Body is creamy, but thin for the style. Somehow, this one is not quite the sum of its fairly impressive parts. Sammy (12105) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 27, 2009
Imperial stout or imperial porter? Not too thick as a stout, yet clearly roasty. Pours dark, a modest white head. Roasty stouty, very consistent roastiness, and you can smell it. Overall like a 1.5 not imperial, some chocolate. Decent drinkability, there is some sourness in the finish that is strongly malted away. Significant nuttiness.
