Good sweet aromas, that’s where I got more maple than in the taste. Above average mouthfeel, buffeted by the maple. Decent drinkability and darkish colour.Bottle from marche Atwater. jercraigs (10527) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 7, 2012
2012-02-07. Hazy dark brown body, small quick beige head. 3+ Sweet aroma is malty and sugary with a bit of tangy maple. Flavour is similar, fairly sweet overall, plain sweet malty core has light bitterness and tangy sugary maple accents. Finish is a bit dry, ligtly alcoholic, this actually reminds me a bit of something that I can’t quite place. Almost quad like with a fruity not quite yeasty character to go with the sugars. Smooth average bodied palate has a modest carbonation but its almost champagne like in terms of the bubbles. Relatively simple, but pretty enjoyable. Much better than expected, alcohol starts to show more as it warms. Sugary sweetness gets slightly more cloying as you go as well. Bottle from Dépanneur Tout-Près, Levis

My Bottom Line:mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 1, 2012
Maple flavors almost tangle with the chosen Belgian yeast, yet alcohol heat, inherent fruitiness and earthy hop bitterness manage to sculpt a pleasant sipping experience.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A great sheet of foam covers the cloudy brownish red.
-The tiny but effervescent bubbles are fine for this type of potent brew.
-Wooden notes appear in the finish, perhaps from both the maple and the bittering hops.
-I guess I’m still stuck on the lack of harmony between the Belgian yeast and the maple syrup. A more neutral yeast (and/or cooler fermentation temps?) might have produced a more satisfying maple experience.
-This is still a well executed Strong Ale, but it is nothing to write home about.
[4284-20120207] 500mL bottle. Cheesy yeast malt grain aroma. Hazy, dark brown amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. Sweet heavy grain bark malt flavour has a hint of dark maple syrup in the finish. Medium-full body has quite a fizzy mouthfeel. Interesting balance. (6/3/7-/3/13) 3.2

pours hazy dark copper with a medium-size light beige head, some retention and lacing. very spicy yeastiness, some earth and soil notes, natural maple sweetness, never cloying, some caramel, toasted and spicy malts, pepper. average carbonation, light body - a tad thin although maple gives a little bit of body, decent grassy-spicy finish. a more than decent maple offering but nothing overly complex.

Bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry & biegaman -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a cloudy copper-orange with an average size frothy tan head. Aroma of ’bottle’ or ’metal’ that I get in most beers with maple syrup, along with maple syrup (of course), caramel malt, some sugary sweetness, alcohol and just a bit of spice. Sweet and yeasty flavour along with sugary malt, maple syrup, light hops and some alcohol in the finish. Average bodied. I found this just O.K. Aroma: peppery , slightly alcoholic nose with clean smooth maple feel. Good aroma.7+
Appearance: slight haze, clean amber brown. Mid tanned fine top. 3+
Body/Flavour/Palate: Mid full bodied. Sweet sugary, syrupy but not cloying. Profile of maple syrup was well presented. Balancing dryness of alcohol.
500ml bottle shared with blankboy and biegaman. Cloudy deep orange-red with a smallish off-white head. Aroma - initial bottle metal fades to sweet syrup and yeast, decent roasty caramel malt; a little burny with the alcohol. Taste - ehh, sweaty, pungent, boozy, sweet - the maple flavour’s there, it doesn’t help ... some spicy dry yeast. Average body, a bit syrupy, lively but not so carbonated, boozy and dry in the finish. Meh - don’t really need this. * Update - give this a little time to work, the sweetness and yeast really smooth it out by the bottom of the bottle - not great, but decent after all. Bottle: Poured a cloudy brown color ale with a nice thick foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light residual sugar with some good notes of caramelized Belgian malt. Taste is also a mix of caramelized Belgian malt with residual sugar. Maple syrup is not a huge factor in this one. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed with limited character.
