Pours dark brown with a white head. Smells of chocolate and fruity. Tastes of chocolate, nutty, some fruity splashes, some peppery hints on the finish. BigBen2120 (688) - Derry, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 17, 2009
12oz bottle obtained at the health food store in Hooksett. Pours a virtually opaque black body with just slight highlights around the edges and virtually no head. Smells sweet and roasty. Tastes roasty and toasty, with strong caramel notes and some grassy hops. Fairly balanced. A solid beer and a pretty good schwarzbier. The hop presence could be scaled back a tad for my taste, but still an all-around good drinker - very sessionable.

Pours a barely transparent black mahogany with a thin, spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of semi-dry toasty grainy black malts with a touch of dark chocolate and coffee. Body starts with an earthy grainy dark caramel and roasted maltiness with some stale dark fruity notes and a touch of licorice toward the bittersweet finish. An interesting attempt at the style, but could be smoother without some of the off flavors. BREWMUSKCLES (2687) - New Jersey, USA - MAR 20, 2009
this is good stuff. it is quite flavorful and has the immediete hit of acrid acid charcoal and chocolate in expresso coffee. the brew has a refreshing palate and body and is carbonated moderately which suited this brew perfectly. touch of spice pepper and anise i enjoyed this beer very much and reccommend it! just a touch of sweetness nice! kennydiaz (358) - Manahawkin, New Jersey, USA - JAN 26, 2009
POURS A DARK ALMOST BLACK COLOR WITH A RICH CREAMY HEAD. TASTE OF ROASTED CHOCOLATE MALTS AND WITH A SLIGHTLY BITTER HOPPY TASTE.

Growler. Dark brown pour with a small tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some cocoa. Malty flavors of roast and chocolate. Reminds me of a doppelbock more then a schwarzbier. santos999 (318) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 10, 2009
Dark black body with a decent chocolate head. The smell is very roasty, almost overly so. The taste is also focused on the roasted malts, and while it’s particularly to style, I kinda like it. Easy to drink a few of for sure. Beerdedone (3408) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 15, 2008
Sampled at brewery Nov 1 08. Pours a dark brown/black with a light tan head. Aroma is sweet and roasty with light chocolate and a hint of nuts. Flavor is sweet roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, nuts and a touch of smoke. Medium bodied with a slightly bitter finish. Decent for a organic brew. (Bottle). Roasty malt aroma. Almost black with light tan head. Flavor is smokey and malt, with some notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Not sweet, fits the schwarzbier profile very well. Enjoyable. Tessic (1153) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 28, 2008
This Schwarz poured a black colour with a creamy tan coloured head. To the nose there is scents of molassass, ripe fruit and toasted grain just to name a few. First taste was smooth and creamy with flavours of coffee and roasted malts. A little cocoa, with a slightly bitter finish and a roasty palate.
