In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.
Bottled at 5.2% abv - can go up as high as 7.2%

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2011 Bottle. Poured a murky amber with some orange undertones and a huge white foamy head that was mostly diminishing but had fantastic lacing. The aroma was heavy of a straw like malt, a moderate floral hop and a moldy scented yeast with notes of dried fruit (raisins), a hint of spice and some citrus (lemon and maybe orange) with a mild alcohol tinge. It tasted a malty, a little bitter and slightly sour with a hint of a peppery spice in the beginning and finished lightly bitter and yeasty with notes of fruit, citrus and a slight alcohol tinge at the end. The flavor was left to linger for a while, leaving a light sourness on the palate. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and a little oily in texture with the carbonation being quite pronounced, almost prickly in feel. Overall a fantastic Trappist Ale, I can see now why the Monks only brew this one beer.

Red wine, ripe orange and yeast aroma. The taste is spicy and yeasty with a crisp finish. Bubbly and delicious.

Aromat: dosyć intensywny, słodki, nuty funkowe, słodkie białe owoce, owoce kandyzowane, rodzynki. Ciemnobursztynowe a nawet jasno miedziane, ładna gruba warstwa piany utrzymująca się. Osad drożdżowy na dnie butelki. Wysycenie wysokie, czuć je na języku. Smak:krzepkie, wykwintne, szlachetne, spokojne i stonowane. Owocowe i pijalne

Barwa miedziana, mętna. Piana nalewa się spora, ale średnio pęcherzykowa, szybko znika. W aromacie gorzka pomarańcza, grejpfrut, guma balonowa.

Perfekt l. .

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2017 Lovely Belgian beer. Lots of complexity in the beer. Purchased single bottle 330ml from LCBO. My bottle says 6.9% tho. As mentioned in description the ABV can range up to 7.2%

Bottle from beer hawk. Well, it is certainly an interesting beer. It combines strong sour flavours with sweet, with bitter. It is supposedly only 6.2% but is probably more (definitely feels it), have to drink it like a wine. Red wine, sour raspberry. At times felt this was stunning, at others i wanted to like it but just found it confused. Hmmm.

Fantastyczne piwo, świetny aromat brettw, dziki, trochę owocowy, nieco ziołowości chmielowej. W smaku rwnież petarda. Wytrawne, solidnie wysycone, dzikie, owocowe, chmielowe. Niby proste piwo, bez żadnych ekstremw, ale fantastyczne.
