In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

Bottled June 14 of 2012, opened on February 23 of 2013. 6.9% alcohol. Tried in both a standard pint glass and a Chimay goblet; the goblet was much better for discovering the full aroma. Pours a hazy orange with a massive head. Incredibly spicy and aromatic, distinctive Belgian yeast aromas and some banana. Taste is s slightly sour and very dry. Probably the driest beer that I have had. Good body. Long aftertaste. Definitely not my style, but it is worth trying once.

330 ml Bottle. 07/2017. Pours with a hazy, deep amber color and a large white head. Nose is very herbal, vinegar, ripe fruits, caramel and some yeast. Taste follows the nose with nice hops and a very nice dry finish.

Barwa ciemnozłota, zmętniona, piana bardzo obfita, ogólnie piwo było bardzo mocno nagazowane. W aromacie brety, stajnia, nuty przyprawowe, ciemne owoce, lekki karmel, kandyzowany cukier. W smaku mocna podbudowa słodowa, do tego wspomniane owoce, karmel, fenole, lekkie banany. Wysycenie wysokie, goryczka średnia. Brakuje mu trochę ciała. Alkohol świetnie ukryty.

Probably the best beer I tried (so far), definitely top 5. An unrivaled complexity of malty, hoppy, herbal, spicy, sweet, sour flavors, altogether very well balanced to a marvelous composition. It does, however, not meet everybody's gusto. I served it to friends once, and they left it unfinished, returning to their Lager. But I love it. Plus I do appreciate in the highest possible way that in the Abbaye d'Orval they brew one beer and nothing else, no 27 variations, just that one beer, therefore aptly named "Orval". Period.

33cl bottle at El Purgatorio, Cartagena, Spain. 6.2% alcohol. Pours hazy loaded gold with abundant and persistent white foam, irregular. Aroma is resinous and grass. Body is kind of light, with abundant carbonation, maybe excessive. Taste is mostly bitter and dry, very low sweetness. Finish is relatively short and dry, with some residual bitterness.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2017 Nice tea colour. Sweet taste, a little bit like Coca Cola candy. Strong honey smell and taste. Light bitterness. Aftertaste is quite bitter though. As for the amount % it's really smooth, and tricky;)

Unclear, orange-amber colored, medium off white frothy had, nice lacing and long lasting. Aroma is of some malt, bit caramel, lots of fruits, horse blanket and funky notes, spicy, yeasty. Taste is medium sweet malt, some caramel, lots of fruity notes, bit vinous, spicy, bit citrus notes, plenty of funky horse blanket, some tart notes, yeasty, light-medium bitterness, dry finish. Medium bodied, lively carbonation. (bottle)

Daboch (113) - Gdansk, POLAND - OCT 3, 2017
Kolor pomarańcz wchodzący w bursztyn. Piana wysoka, średnio pęcherzykowa. Piwo pięknie prezentuje się w dedykowanym szkle. Aromat intensywny, końska derka, goździki, chmiel, trochę karmelu. W smaku wytrawne wyraźnie ziołowe, trochę goździków, posmak rumu, z ładnie zaznaczoną goryczką. Od lat niezmienne, wybitne

ehaak26 (680) - - OCT 1, 2017
Bottle from A.J.'a Beer Warehouse. Aroma is peppery and flowery with some earthy yeast.

Mariox (298) - Warsaw, POLAND - SEP 30, 2017
Rocznik 2006. W aromacie estry, ciemne owoce, drożdże i lekki banan. W smaku lekko słodkie i kwaśne, goryczki niewiele.

Doft: Päron, äpple, jäst, lätt brödig, men mer frisk och fruktig, lätta citrontoner, lite kryddig. Smak:brödig, äpple/päron, lite alkohol, lite brett, aningen metall men inget som stör, torr, allt samspelar väl! Mycket trevligt!
