RATINGS: 2747   WEIGHTED AVG: 3.71/5   EST. CALORIES: 195   ABV: 6.5%
Brewed with hefty amounts of European malts and four kinds of American hops, it delivers a blast of hop aromas, a rich middle of malt and hops, and a thrilling finish. It weighs in at 6.5 % alcohol by volume.

Why squeeze such a big brew into a little can?

Because we think fun in the great outdoors calls for great beer. Our cans go where bottled beers can’t, where flavorless canned beers don’t belong. And no matter where you drink Dale’s Pale Ale, our can protect it from light and oxidation far better than bottles do.

Northern Brewer for bittering, Cascade and Columbus for flavor, and a big, post-boil addition of Centennial for aroma.

No real notes on appearance or aroma, as I just have to drink this from the can. Full bodied brew that’s nicely hopped throughout, but light enough to ensure a good drinkability. Mild bitterness in the finish. Update: Draft at Oskar Blues: Pours a fiery amber with a small white head. Great hoppy aroma jumps out of the glass. A real solid caramel malt backbone supports the hops in the body. A real nice APA.

DOC: 5/10/2017

2015 BJCP Category: 18B American Pale Ale

AROMA: Strong IPA-level piney/floral hop aroma. Some fruit or berry notes. Firm malt presence creates for confectionery-like sweetness. Clean fermentation. No alcohol. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Deep amber/copper hue (too dark for style, though); mostly clear. Large white froth retains and laces extremely well. 2/3

FLAVOR: Hops dominate the presentation with piney/resiny flavor at beginning and end. Fruity/floral flavors are present at the apex. Malt base is noticeably sweet with a strong caramel/toffee taste throughout. Palette is big and robust in nearly every way - a little too flamboyant for the style, IMHO. 13/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium to medium-full body; moderate carbonation. Not quite crisp, not quite sticky; though the hops do linger and leave a dry piney aftertaste. Very efficient for 6.5% ABV. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Though a delectable brew, this is entirely too big to be considered an APA. If marketed as a AIPA it’d be nearly World Class. 6/10

Bue à la pression. APA très très bien faite. Blonde orangée, ronde, houblon/malt bien équilibrés, assez longue en bouche. Finale très agréable sur l’aromatique. Vraiment chouette.

Pours a murky bronze color. About two fingers bone colored head. Okay retention, light lacing.

Aroma is malty, grapefruit, orange peel. Smells juicy and sweet. A touch dank, a touch of smoke.

Taste is malty, sweet. A little orange pith bitterness. There’s a touch of pine, grapefruit. Juicy.

Mouthfeel is medium body. A little slick. Good hop bitterness, lingering bitterness. Highly drinkable for a beer this high in ABV.

Overall, this is quite delicious. A great pale ale. I would buy this again, and I would recommend it.

Originally rated on 1/6/09. O.B. delivers another solid beer again. It pours a slightly hazy copper body, not much head or lace to speak of. Aromas of piney hops and some caramel notes as well. It goes down nice and smooth with a slightly bitter finish. Flavor of pine and some malts. I like that’s its in a can. Although its a pretty good beer, I was more impressed with Southern Star pine belt pale ale to this one, it comes in a 16 oz can, costs less and is a better beer. However this is truer to the APA style than the forementioned and it is still pretty darn good and i would buy it again.

Lovely looking dark amber colour with medium carbonation, dense fluffy white head and good lacing. Aroma is equally promising. Caramel and bready malts, orange and pine hops. Taste has initial sweetness with a lovely long bitter finish with decent body and nice hint of booze. Beautifully balanced strong pale ale. May lack the hop impact of similar strength IPAs, but very hard to find fault with this. It’s a superb pale ale which as a bonus was amazing value from Tesco.
