Sippin’ on that fuggin’ IPA. Woah, this one hits you with a load of pine and grapefruit/citrus right from the start. There is a caramel sweetness aroma as well, paired with other fruits such as apricot and papaya. Pour is bright orange with a white head. Flavors are intense with a heavy dose of honey and caramel, making this one rather sweet up front. Then....BOOM! Hops slap you in the face like when you get caught looking at another chick. Nice. Tons of citrus and tropical fruit with a nice dose of pine in the mix, too. Pleasantly bitter on the finish and rich in flavors all around. Excellent beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ Oblivion Taproom. This one had a very sweet aroma - some pine, grapefruit and honey made for an enticing scent. The body was fairly carbonated, and complimented the fresh hop character. Flavors of grapefruit, straw and light toffee was all unbalanced... but in a good way for an IPA. At 8% abv it wasn’t all that strong, but shouldn’t this be a DIPA?

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can from Market Street McKinney. Pours a deep copper color with a thin off white head. The aromas are pine, grass, citrus. The mouthfeel is dry bitter and citrucy with a medium body and good carbonation. This thing definitely has a kick but it’s one great beer! Cheers!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear dark gold. Aroma of lots of pine, dank, grassy. Taste was not as bitter as expected, lots of malt to balance the hops. Really good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Canned 4/09/12. Poured from 16oz to Duvel tulip:
The aroma comes first here. Cracked open the can and I’m overwhelmed by massive citrus and soft pine. Some pineapple, no real booze to be had.
Anyways, the appearance... Pours a thin copper with minimal beading, great lacing, and a healthy swelling head.
Taste makes me think Hopslam. Boozy, sugary citrus. Some pine/spruce to support. Malts are few and far between.
The feel is a bit thin, I must say. Goes down about as easy as a IIPA can though.
Overall, I’ve got to find this one again. Quite good.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear amber pour with a small, rocky head. Aroma of fresh pine and floral, malty sweetness, plus a touch of sea air. Smooth and very tasty IPA, with plenty of pine and grapefruit. Very well balanced and goes down surprisingly easy for a medium-big IPA, and has a mellow aftertaste. Deviant Dale’s is pretty close to being an ideal IPA.

It’s quite yummy. It’s one of the tastiest APAs I’ve enjoyed since Three Floyds’ Alpha King. It shares that beers hoppiness, for sure, and almost matches the maltiness.

Growler from Rob @ Lynnhaven Pub. Thanks Rob! Strong citrus and leafy green hop aromas. Strong hop flavors. Overall a very very good IPA.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bronze-gold with sheeting, light tan lace. Orange, apricot, grapefruit, and huge dankness along with some onion/garlic in the nose. Flavor is pretty sweet with unfermentables (or simply under attenuated), and the medium bitterness fails to keep that in check. The medium body actually begins to thin out too much as it warms. Creamy carb overall, and the bitterness keeps trying to corral everything in the moderately lasting finish. Bold and ’tasty’, for what it is, but I am done after 4oz. and left underwhelmed.

3.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A little darker in color than regular Dale's Ale. The aroma is over the top hops - picture an entire pine forest! The initial taste is full throttle hops, the middle is hops and the finish is …hops. Very good but I wouldn't want drink more than one at a time.
