GABF 2007. A hazy pale golden beer with a thick beige head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of whiskey, but also lighter notes of over ripe fruit. Keg at BrewDog Sheppy’s Bush - London. Pours clear orange with a frothy, white head. Lots of oxidised malt character to the nose, toffee, stewed apples. Medium sweet flavor with rich bread, caramel, ripe apples, brown sugar, dates. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Keg at BD Shep’s Bush (8.7%), as brekenbridge BA. It pours deep ruby-brown with a small off-white head. The nose is juicy, sweet vanilla, toasted coconut, oily, bourbon, toffee, butterscotch, varnish and wood. The taste is smooth, woody, bourbon, pine, varnish, toffee, decent bitterness, bourbon, alcohol warmth and a touch of citrus with a warming, sweetish finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Pretty well rounded and drinkable stuff. Nice.

On tap @ Falling Rock poured a hazy golden amber with a small lingering ivory head. Aromas of whikey, vanilla, fruittiness, light carmel and light oak. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Served on draft at Capital Ale House downtown. Pours a clear brownish red with a large frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of dark resiny hops with lots of whisky notes and notes of maple, vanilla and mint. Taste is citrus hops that are hidden at first but grow as you drink the beer leading to a nice hop burn on the roof of the mouth. Lots of whisky and maple notes as well. Sample at the Brevard tap room. Murky brownish-amber color with a medium foamy beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, malt and caramel. Medium-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, caramel malt and vanilla. The finish is moderately boozy with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Draft. Medium beige head atop cloudy copper body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, some whiskey, light vinous, toffee. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, grape, some whiskey, light vinous. Sticky medium-full body, low carbonation. Lost too much of the lovely underlying beer.
