On draft at the brewpub. Pours a deep black with a small tan head. Hoppy aroma, bitter and clean, with nice malt notes. Taste is creamy and bitter, of pine hops and roasted malt. Lingering creamy bitterness. Nice black IPA.
Draft at the Tasty Weasel. Pours opaque dark brown with a fizzy beige head and decent lacing. Tastes like smokey malt, roasted, earthy, woody. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like roasted malt, light earth, smoke, and wood. kevinator (2176) - The Colony, Texas, USA - NOV 18, 2015
Faint roasty hop aroma. Nice dark color and a medium weight. Above average flavor with hints of wood and toast and a hop punch at the end. BVery (10327) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - NOV 6, 2015

Draft. Almost black. Great frothy khaki head. Dry. Mild bitterness. Mild roasty. A very easy black IPA to get into. Not so ’in your face’ as many other black IPA’s.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours near black with a rich tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a hearty dark molasses and anise flavor with a bit of chocolate and a bitter hoppy finish. Very toasty. Patrickctenchi (6560) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - OCT 6, 2014
Black, with a frothy tan head.
Licorice, coffee aroma...grapefruit.
Malty....almost a nitro’ed feel with a nice coffee, ash, chocolate flavour.
Mild grapefruit-peel hopping.
Very good. shrubber85 (11324) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - OCT 5, 2014
Draft. Caramel chocolate malt and pine/grapefruit peel aroma. Brown-black with moderate tan head. Sweet caramel-chocolate malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel flavor. Nice balance. stevoj (4966) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 8, 2014
On tap at Bittercreek. Pours muddy black with very thin head, normal roast grain and hop aromas. Grains take over a bit in the taste, providing that stout/porter essence, until some hops kick in on the finish. JohnGalt1 (1721) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 4, 2014
On tap at Bittercreek.. Pours the expected black with a short lived brownish head that produced a decent enough lacing... West Coast pithy hops with a nice smack of roast and a light body... Balanced toward the hops, but nothing gets overwhelming making for a very drinkable brew.
