COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Old Chub is a Scottish style ale brewed with copious amounts of crystal and chocolate malts, and a dash of beechwood-smoked malts. While Dale's Pale Ale ("the best-tasting canned beer I've ever had," according to many brewers and beer experts) is a showcase of both hops and pale malts, Old Chub is a celebration of malts. The cola-colored beer features a dense, tawny head, a creamy mouthful and flavors of caramel, chocolate and lightly roasted malt. Complex and rich, it finishes with a whisper of smokiness that calls to mind a fine single malt scotch. Old Chub weighs in at 8 % alcohol by volume.

Can at the Ginger Man. The mere thought of drinking something this thick out of a can has always been morally and philosophically troubling to me, but this was all worth it. Like I said, it’s a very viscous beer, with considerable carbonation, which gives it a very unsubtle mouthfeel, in a good way. The aroma is very malty, almost syrupy, with molasses, fudge, a bit of chocolate, a bit of roast, and lots of booze. The taste is mainly sweet, with a slightly bitter sensation lingering, and again, a very boozy feel. It’s really the kind of stuff you hate to think about the morning after, but really, who cares?

Can 35.5cL. 8%. Purchase ("Biere-revolution.com", FR). Home. A sparkling black beer with mahogany hues ; big beige foamy head ; good retention ; ok lacing. Roast, light caramel, wood, bourbon?, dried fruity notes, licorice, alcohol. Medium sweet, warming, light dry, bitter note. Medium body, light silky creamy texture, average carbonation, sweet caramel strong finish. Overall, very good ! Reading the description, there are "beechwood-smoked malts" ; yes, surely smoky notes.

Poszło w aromacie karmelem, kandyzo outwanymi. Slodkie, gęste, oblepiające. Alkohol świetnie ukryty jak na prawie 9%. Kawka, mnóstwo karmelu. Powinno poleżeć w beczce

W aromacie karmel i rodzynki. Barwa bursztynowa, piana drobna, utrzymujaca sie. W smaku slodkie, brakuje troche gestosci. Na finiszu troche alkoholowe, ale nie przeszkadza to zbytnio. Goryczka na srednim poziomie. Przyjemne, niczego nie urywa.

Not very interesting. Sweet and strong. Dark fruit and toasted malt in mouth. Hint of smokiness is most interesting thing about it.

Buen cuerpo, cremosa. Maltosa y acaramelada. Algo de fruta madura y punto ahumado. En boca dulce con un toque herbal de lúpulo. Compleja pero muy equilibrada, con el alcohol bien integrado. LATA. Canned 21/04/2017

Dark brown, fizzy, medium-thick head. Caramel, toffee, dark fruits, raisin and residual cocoa nibs. Sweet malty taste, with notes of smoked oak barrel, dried plums and esters. Dry, boozey finish. Medium carbonation, creamy texture. Highly drinkable, well rounded. +++
