COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged through four seasons and from a blend of the top Bourbons around, this Ten Fidy has morphed into a monster of cranked up flavor. Espresso, burnt sugar, rich chocolate, caramel notes are now driving alongside the vanilla, oak, bourbon from the barrel and been smoothed out during maturation. Even at 12.9% (75 IBUs) it is cool and drinkable, letting each sip add more and more complexity.

Draf to snifter from JPs pour opaque black with thin mahogany head. Nose bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, light earthy. Taste big roast and some pleasing bourbon up front, then chocolate, bakers chocolate, raisins, molasses. The flavors return to chocolate and a light burn at the end. Super thick mouth feel. Aftertaste of chocolate lasts for minutes.

19.2 ounce stovepipe can - $9.99 at Bullock's Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a thick-looking, black body with a creamy, very dark brown head. Smell: It's got warming, inviting notes of bourbon (naturally, but, as it warms, it shifts beyond that to a more heated alcohol presence), cooled espresso, chocolaty brownies and dark fruits all crammed together. Warming and inviting, yes, but, seeing as it's a beefy 12.9% ABV, it's also damned harrowing, so have a glass of water at the ready, don't you dare use this as a roadie (you drunk monsters) and, please, pace yourselves for the near twenty ounce voyage. Taste: Erupting with a rich, dark maltness intertwined with a plush bourbon barrel character, you're getting charry coffee beans, a dense, sweet fudgey quality, some homemade vanilla extract and long dark fruits. As with the nose, for me, at least, the bourbon flavor drops off and is eventually replaced by a not necessarily displeasing but a firm alcohol quality as it likely begins to numb and almost condition the tongue. Aided by the alcohol, the tannic pinch of oak and the charry element of the roast are some citrusy, bitterish hops. Finishes sweetish, lightly chocolaty and giving more than its share of alcohol warmth. Mouthfeel: Full-bodied, almost heavy-bodied, if I can use that. Mouthfeel is a bit creamy, a tad oily. Overall: It's big and bold and a sipper, but I'm not so sure the cranked up alcohol content lets it outshine the original base beer. Perhaps, it's my own fault. Let's face it, it's not everyday one gets one of these tall-tallboys, so, mentally, picking up simply "A can" seemed like a rash and reasonable decision.

Tap. Jet black oil slick looking pour with no head. Boozy, bourbon, vanilla, light oak, sweet dark fruits, and a touch of chocolate in the aroma. Flavor isn’t as hot as aroma, vanilla bourbon, some savory oaky notes, slight espresso with dark fruit finish. Medium to bicker body that’s slick.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2018 Shared tall can. Canned 11/04/2016. Pours almost black with a tan head. Aroma of booze, roasted malt, chocolate. Taste follows nose. Boozy finish. Yet another BA impy stout with too much barrel for my tastes.

4/8/2016 -- from backlog notes: Can sample. Black color. Great head. Great lace. Nice roasty character, bit of dark fruit, dark choc, mild coffee, nice kind of spicy barrel flavor. Moderate to bigger bitter, moderate sweet, good balance. Mild warmth, but good for 13%. Awesome huge full creamy chewy body. Very nice BA stout. Would be a fanstastic one to take backpacking.

December 31, 2017 - can as an extra via trade with Evan yesterday. Black pour with some head. Aroma was bourbon, chocolate and roasted malt. Taste was consistent with the aroma, but also had some nice woody flavor.
