4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Part of a special "barrel" week at The Beer Junction. $5.35 for a 4oz pour, listed as 10.8% ABV. Wow, did I love this beer! Opaque, black color with a dark, tan head. Aroma was roasty (borderline burnt smell), picked up on the alcohol and bourbon. Flavor was potent but balanced. It was thick, smooth and left a trail of very good lace. I’m actually struggling to describe it further, I think it left me semi-speechless. This was awesome and totally worth the price for a special treat!
I cannot smell it well but the flavor is delicious. The aroma is charcoal oak. The flavor is like a brown ale concentrate. think of reducing your favorite brown down to 1/2 volume. Then its all smooth, rich, and flavorful without being bitter or harsh. Its a black oily beer that can warm the tummy. jsmanigold (127) - Texas, USA - AUG 16, 2015
Pours black like motor oil. Brown/tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Hints of bourbon, roasted malt and prunes can be detected. Very silky on the tonue.

Had back in 2013 - the may have overdone the bourbon that time. Instead of an extra note it kind of took over the beer and you missed the rest. Tap Fritz123 (1535) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - DEC 7, 2014
Tasted at Aces and Ales in Las Vegas. Pours a jet black, thick used motor oil with a luscious mocha head. Aroma is strong with caramel, vanilla, dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, prunes, and roasted nuts. The taste is just as good with the deep chocolate notes first and then the vanilla, caramel, toffee, and roasted goodness. Serious thick mouth and an almost syrup like consistency. Slight booze on the finish, but very well balanced with flavors overall.

Tasted on 9/27/14 from a crowler, big thanks to Churnandburn. Pours almost completely black with an average brown head that slowly recedes to an average collar. The nose is nice nutty maple and toffee bourbon with a ton of dark roasted coffee, and some dark chocolate. The flavor is really nicely balanced and the same with some milk chocolate brownie added. The body is very full with just above average carbonation and a long nicely roasted, ton of nutty bourbon finish.

Growler thanks to Brian. Pours a dark brown with no head. The aroma is strong bourbon, oak, wood, and dark fruits. Medium mouthfeel with strong booze, dark chocolate, light bitterness, really enjoyed this one. MaltOMeal (1094) - Land of Sugar, Texas, USA - APR 11, 2014
On tap at Flying Saucer Sugar Land a couple days ago during an Oskar Blues Tap Takeover. Have been wanting to try this for quite some time. Was not disappointed! This has the same nose and taste as the regular Ten Fidy - chocolate, coffee and chocolate - while adding whiskey and wood. Fortunately, the whiskey adds to the complexity of this brew without overwhelming the base beer. A hi-quality brew here. Mouthfeel was thick and coating. Should have ordered a second glass as it was blown a little later that evening. trujahwarrior (510) - Monroe, Washington, USA - APR 3, 2014
On tap, pours black with a brown hue with a thick tan head that leaves great lacing. Smells of oak bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt and caramel. Tastes of the same things in the smell. Mouthfeel is thick, silky and creamy with good carbonation. The original Ten Fidy is great on it’s own, ageing it in a whiskey barrel makes it even better. Probably one of the best barrel aged stouts I’ve had. Right up there with Bourbon County and The Abyss. Too bad it’s only available on draft. I would love to see what some more age would do to it. 48FanInCali (851) - California, USA - APR 2, 2014
Crowler. Pitch black pour with small mocha head. Nose mainly of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a little booze. Taste follows the nose with more coffee. Barrel is subtle but it is present. Good but doesn’t knock your socks off. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAR 26, 2014
Draft at sb. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy dark tan head. Big sweet chocolate and apricot nose. Very sugary. Sticky thick goopy body. Chocolate and apricot mid palate. Heavy and sweet but very nice. Long finish.
