What a gorgeous mother of a beer! Deep black hole dark - light has no hope of passing throught this beer. Ive never imagined a beer that thick and dark. Nice dark tan head with a little lace, doesnt last. Aroma is of bright dark chocolate, dark coffee beans, cooked sweet fruit - apple maybe?, and nice roasty goodness. Mouthfeel is as you would expect - syrupy thick - with velvety soft carbonation. Starts light - tate doesnt show up until the middle of the tongue. Starts with dark chocolate, carbon, licorice, maybe a hint of vanilla, deep woodsiness. Develops more into dark burnt roast - tastes like a campfire - in a good way. Alcohol is warming, but not overdone. An overlying sweetness doens compete with the bitterness but keeps it from being unpleasant. Kind of a meatiness in the end, crips bitterness lasts in the end. What a glorious beer. I will dream of this, and I may write a song about it.

Pours like texas crude. tastes like chocolate, dry chocolate, bakers chocolate, and small hints of coffee. everything great about imperial stout is in this beer. This beer truly is flawlessly executed, a great example of imperial stout.

Pours from the 12 oz. can a thick, dark viscous black (yes, just like used motor oil) with minimal tan head that quickly fades into a light collar. Im holding it up to the brightest lamp in the room, and absolutely NONE of the light penetrates this beer! Aroma is surprisingly faint, but has hints of unsweetened dark chocolate & black coffee. 1st sip is surprisingly sweet...more dark chocolate, black coffee, malt roasted almost to the point of being "burnt", and a slight hint of smoke. On the swallow, there is a bitterness of alcohol and the the dark chocolate/coffee notes with a hint of hops. Mouthfeel is smooth, silky, and thick...the consistency of syrup or honey. Overall? Two words...simply amazing! This is the best beer I have ever had up to this point, and I want more!!!

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2013 Favorite stout. Thick and robust brew here folks. Rather smooth w mild carbonation and thick oily resin. Semi-sweet and pure joy to consume this dark as night concoction. This is a full-body and emense flavor profile yeilding hints of molasses, chicory, espresso, dark non-bittersweet chocolate and dark rum or robust bourbon.

Definitely one of my favorite RIS. The 10.5 is hidden well although this beer really is as thick as oil. Probably the thickest beer Ive had. It is like drinking an oil slick. This one ages well so set a few on their side. Nice smooth and complex brew.

poured into a snifter, pours jet black & thick. Medium mocha head. nice lacing. Nose of candied prunes with a hint of alcohol. tastes of also candy prunes, raisins, alcohol, balanced nicely with a bitter lingering aftertaste. roasted malts. excellent stout.
