   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 16/20

UPDATED: APR 11, 2015 Tasted from can at Flossmoor?s pre-DLD day, 5/9/08. "The darkest beer in a can," someone said. Guinness, maybe? Anyway, I?m tasting this right after a swig of Peche Mortel, the only thing that this would taster "lighter" than. A tad sweeter than your imperial type beers. Shows nice character of coffee and milk chocolate to make the alcohol burn a little easier going down. Ends up tasting like a big sip of coffee-flavored syrup.

2012 can, poured 4/11/15. Warm Bourbon nose during the pour. Once settled in the goblet, some slightly roasted black malt smell, but alcohol keeps it from being overly bitter. Viscous texture makes this a prime beer for sipping. A bit of syrupy stickiness on the lips. A bit more roasty on the tongue, even a bit of hop bitterness for a beer that I’ve been able to keep in the fridge for all of the 3 years I’ve had it. Still, a slight tinge Much better from a full can than sampled with many others.

12 oz can to tulip. Pours black, dark brown head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, licorice, coffee, coffee, roasted grain, brown sugar. Taste of same with boozy, slight anise finish. That is one rich, boozy dessert beer. Wow! And not even barrel aged like everyone else jumping on that bandwagon to gain flavor and critic ratings. That’s good! Well-balanced for 10.5abv.

A black beer, a head is big, dense and dark brown. Aroma has strong liquirice, chocolate, sweetness of dried fruits, some coffee. Taste has liquirice, also salt liquirice, roastiness and coffee, hint of dried fruits. Balanced sweetness. Full bodied, smooth carbonation, not stickyness. Some warming in the throat. Intensive but also so easily to drink. Great beer.

Deserowa czekolada, kawa, troche pralin. Niesamowicie zbalansowane piwo, bardzo gladkie, likierowe. Fajna palona goryczka.

Bradzo dobry Imperial Stout bez udziwnien i beczkowych modyfikacji. Kawa, czekolada, dosc slodkie z palona goryczka i dosc niskim wysyceniem. Bardzo dobre.

Próbka na WFDP. Cudowny, klasyczny i agresywny RIS. Wzorowo.

My 200th rating. Although I am openly not a big fan of Imperial stout, this one is nicely balanced. Friend talked to me about it around christmas. Had to try it. A good one.
